jennyinheaven, I would not. Skim has basically no fat in it, it'd be akin to just adding water.

Yesssss. All the themed days. Freaking beach day in January! Food pantry, special donation, I’m sure there’s more... Yup. And it’s not easy to send all this stuff with a kinder student on the bus. One day he had to bring a huge jug of apple juice in his backpack. I thought he was gonna fall over. I guess I could have dropped it off separately for him but who has time for that. I saw a kid getting off the bus carrying his bag of food pantry items. ![](https://thumbs.gfycat.com/SharpMixedChuckwalla-size_restricted.gif)

White sauce always has flour in it. It starts with a roux of butter and flour, then add the milk. Or cream. Alfredo is different, isn't it? Anyway doing the flour at the beginning cooks off the raw flour taste and also solves the lump problem (adding it when there's not much liquid and that liquid is mostly fat). Adding flour later could definitely come out nasty. jennyinheaven how did it come out? I've always made it with milk rather than cream but never skim milk - 2% and whole both work fine.

That helicopter crash is so sad - but it's really bugging me to not hear more about the other 7 people. Their lives weren't less valuable just because they weren't celebrities. Maybe it's the families' choice to avoid media circus, which would be totally understandable. But what it has sounded like is more like they just don't count as much as Kobe and his daughter, they're just the "7 other people" . like the way way too many people who die in non-mass shootings and other violence every day who we never hear about.

Dd got her boots totally soaked at after school care yesterday and they didn't dry much overnight. I don't have a hairdryer or anything similar and she doesn't have any other boots that fit - last year's mud boots are now way too small. I guess I'm just sending her to school with wet boots and extra socks to change into after recess. ??

Source: my H ruining an alfredo It came out delicious. Secret to using flour is making a roux first. Don't add flour last then you taste it.

I agree, it is so sad and the way just 2 people have been focused on, false videos, and the media circus makes it even more sad. H's 4k teacher lost her husband in a helicopter crash last summer. He was a med flight nurse with a 2 year old and a baby on the way. She asked on FB yesterday that posts include all victims, be very careful about what you say, and never share an article that includes the crash site, as that is most painful for family and friends. These poor families that lost their loved ones. 😢

My garage door is broken so we’ve been parking in the driveway. Well I never thought about the windshield being frozen because I’ve been spoiled with a garage (at our house and at the apartment) for the last 10 years. So today we almost missed ds’ bus because I could not see out of the window. I could defrost it fast enough, so I had to drive with my head out of the window like a cold dog. Luckily it was a short drive and I didn’t hit any parked cars. I’m so grateful (and broke) that we are getting a new one finally today!!

If you're referring to the video circulating where a helicopter is actually crashing, it's not actually this copter crash. It's from a couple weeks ago in UAE. AFAIK, there's no actual footage of this crash, especially since it was so foggy. But still, they shouldn't be circulating that either.

I'm sorry but the image you painted of you driving with your head out the window cracked me up. I park outside in our back driveway usually. Even though I know I may have a frozen windshield from this I never remember to go out early and defrost window. We've almost been late to school drop off several times because of this.

It's also terrible that the news leaked so early so some of the families of those on board hadn't all been notified before it hit SM.

I actually only need the ice scraper part. We never get snow (I know, never say never). My husband was searching for ours while I was using whatever was in the car to created friction/heat...I found a diaper. It was comical.

DD1 just mopped the dining room all on her own and of her own volition. She's really hoping to get that Barbie Dreamhouse (we told her she'd have to save money for it)

DS is taking it upon himself to buy lunch at school whenever he feels like it. I should be annoyed but it means he is trying and liking new foods. Today he discovered corn dogs.

Yeah, wet boots are a situation that makes me wish we had forced air heat. But we have hot water in baseboards. Good in some ways but doesn't do much for drying out boots or other stuff. Apparently in the few hours at school before recess they dried out more so she didn't get her feet soaked (or frozen) at recess so that's good.
