We had our big feast last night and it was delicious! Peyton stayed up pretty late and then did her countdown and danced around. We were up until 11:30, but BF had a very long day at work after having late hours all week so was exhausted.
We just got back from taking the dog for a hike and plan on lounging tonight. They have postponed school for a couple of days and we have to rapid test Peyton for 5 days to be sure she is negative as do all kids. Here's hoping things get better soon! Sorry for everyone dealing with covid and illness.

Wouldn't be a new year with puke in our house. Dd1 said she didn't feel good this morning, and was pretty mellow for most of the morning, and then played this afternoon. At dinner time she didn't want to eat the chicken nugget and tots I made, and instead had an apple banana pouch and some puffs.
Dd1 puked in bed a little before 9pm. And sharted. And was shaking from the pain from her migraine while I was trying to get her in the tub to clean her off. I currently have her sleeping on the living room floor on top of a couple of towels. I gave her a dissolvable zofran before bed, but that didnt seem to help with the puking, and i know she wont be able to keep any motrin or Tylenol down.
She puked again at 9:30 and said her head didn't hurt. I asked her about it at 9:45, and she said it was hurting a little. This tracks with what a previous Dr told me about kids with migraines. They puke to relieve the pressure in their head.
I made an appointment for Jan 31st with her primary to get a referral to neurology. I can't remember if I saw one as a kid, but my mom suggested, so maybe...
Happy new (same) year everyone.

I hope that a neurologist can diagnose them and give her something that will help relieve them somewhat.

I was talking with dh and he asked me if I wanted to take her in when i mentioned the shaking. I told him no, because 1, I wiuld have needed someone to come over and be at the house with dd2. 2, they would probably just tell me to give her Tylenol or Motrin and sent us home. And 3, no way am I taking my kid to an ER right now unless absolutely necessary.

Dd1 is feeling better this morning. No pain in hernhead and her tummy is better. She did start again last night in her sleep. I figured she did, since i could smell it when she sleeping on the floor, but since she was sleeping soundly I didnt wake her up.
Oh, and last night i forgot to have Dd2 put on a pull up. So, shortly after midnight she woke up to tell me she had wet the bed. I brought her a pull up and threw down 2 towels on her bed. I'll take care of that as soon as she wakes up.

Its a later generation of cyproheptadine.

Claritin doesn’t work as well as cyproheptadine we had a lot of success with Ds1 when he was little then his migraines progressed so he went to propanolol then nortriptyline. But when he has a bad migraine we do Tylenol and Benadryl to break it. If we can’t he goes to the er for fluids and more meds.

Well, we’re all going back to in person school tomorrow. Already got emails from 2 parents saying their kids won’t be in tomorrow and asking about virtual instruction and now we got an email from admin that desks need yo be back in rows and we should avoid having the kids sit on the rug or having them work in mixed groups (i.e. kids they don’t sit near). So basically we can’t do morning meeting, read alouds on the rug together, read groups or math groups/centers. I don’t know wtf I’m supposed to do with them all day because they sure as hell can’t stay in their seats all day. And I’m going to be out for at least 2 days for DH’s surgery and I have no idea what kind of work I can leave for both in person and virtual students for full days of school. 🤯🤯

We are virtual this week. We got notified on Friday - per usual last minute. I feel terrible for the teachers that got notified on Friday too. And ds’s teacher is on a long leave for surgery and the sub doesn’t know how to do virtual school. So we got emailed that another teacher will be doing virtual for them, but she was just notified so it may not be synchronous. 🙄 It’s going to be a hot mess to have kindergarten virtually for Ds2 only for one week. And they are back in person next week. All this stress for all parties involved.

We are adding a couple of 4 month old kittens to our house temporarily. The friend that had the house fire asked us if we would board her 2 kittens for 3ish months. They are currently at a kennel run by a metal friend, and while the friend takes great care of the animals, they dont much socialization in a kennel. Here they will be in my sewing room, and we will be in out of there all day long playing with them and giving them attention. My friend is also going to come here and work from my sewing room one day a week since I have better internet than the hotel they are at, and it's a quieter place. I spent the afternoon getting it tidied up and putting things away that I wouldn't them to get into. I just need to vacuum tomorrow and do one final check of the carpet to make sure that I got all the pins out of it.
Her insurance is going to pay us to do it, and we are going to put the money towards getting new carpet in the living room, upstairs play area, and new flooring in my sewing room.

Has anyones kids had mouth sores when they are sick? Dd is miserable, she is barely eating. I went and picked up special chocolate milk and that’s the only thing she really been able to eat. She has a little goat yogurt but can’t stand the granola.

We had 143 students and 14 staff members out today. Between that and not being able to let the kids leave their seats much, the vibe at school was soo weird.

We had 143 students and 14 staff members out today. Between that and not being able to let the kids leave their seats much, the vibe at school was soo weird. Is that a lot higher absence rate than you've had? We've had 15-25% of students absent most of the school year so far (our part of Maine has been in a growing surge all Fall - delta got here late); might not have had 14 staff out but it's hard to figure out because the staff out list is rarely accurate. Some of the elementary schools have had days when the principal had to sub in a classroom and they were desperately scrounging to cover lunch and recess. It sucks and is horrible for morale. And instruction. So many kids getting so far behind. Having to quit doing guided reading and math groups seems not enough benefit for the cost though. If they're all masked, and we understand that it's airborne as least as much as droplets, distance seems less important. I hope they rethink that part soon so you can teach 1st graders properly! Eta our absences are only partly covid; its always been a problem. But at least half has been covid with quarantines (no pooled testing in the district i work in and infuriatingly low vax rate - dd's school hasn't had nearly as many out on quarantine)

She has a little goat yogurt but can’t stand the granola. HFM could be the culprit, like scout251 said. Cot had a cold recently and said her mouth hurt. She didn’t eat much for a few days. Just milk and cold stuff. I looked and didn’t see any sores so assumed she just had a sore throat. But my first thought was HFM. J had a similar experience with the cold but neither developed any sores.
