One of the girls in DD1’s class told her that she isn’t smart because she goes to work with the reading teacher. 😠 That makes me so angry. We are all smart/talented in different ways. I’m sensitive to this with having one child in the gifted program and another not in it. Everything comes easy for ds1. Ds2 has struggled with speech for so long (been in speech for almost 2 years) . Both of my children are smart. I think ds2 lacks some confidence because of speech. Im so sorry for your dd. ETA: I have to talk to Ds about not making ds2 feel bad. He will say - it’s soooo easy! And for him it is, but for ds2 it’s hard work. I remind Ds that he is 2 years older than Ds2. And I have to let him know that can hurt ds2’s feelings. But yesterday when we were doing 2 virtual schools and work - Ds was helping ds2 with his work very nicely. So I know part of it is sibling stuff. I've had to remind Dd1 about talking like that. When we are doing homework together she will say "this stuff is soooooo easy". I remind her that for her, some things might be easy, but someone else might be struggling with it, and that something she might be struggling with someone else will find easy. I'e also encouraged her to offer help to classmates that are struggling when her work is finished.

I’m in need of a new pair of rain/muck boots. I normally wear them when in the garden and chicken coop. Any favorites? I love bogs, also muck boots I just ordered a pair of bogs on clearance! Thanks for the recommendation 🙂

It’s my kids last day at their elementary school. Finishing 2nd and K. It’s a bittersweet day. Is anyone else done now? I know we start early and end earlier than some.

And first thing this morning, A said she had nothing to do 🙄 Day damn 1 😂

We still have 3 weeks left. We have an extra week due to snow days. I don't expect much. DS's teacher already stopped giving homework and they have a couple field trips planned. He starts camp the following week so no time for him to be bored!

Dd1 stayed home today from school. She came down and said she didn't feel like going to school. I debated sending her, and tried to talk her into trying it, but decided to go with her thoughts. Good thing I did, because she threw up while Dd2 was getting ready, and then again while I was gone. Nothing since then, so I'm not entirely sure what it was all about.
Oh, and the first seeds that we planted have sprouted. We have some tiny little lettuce plants on the girls raised planters!

They actually raised enough money with their fundraiser that they are paying to take the whole school to a minor league baseball game. I'm kinda jealous. 🙂

Today was new kitty day. Dh and I had a list of cats we wanted to see. When we got there for our appointment, our top 3 choices had already been adopted today. We looked at and met around a dozen cats, and picked the one that picked us. When we left the room he was in to go to an adjoining room, he got up on the cat tree next to the door we went through and scratched at it. When we were in the main lobby area, he sat at the window and watched and waited for us to come back. This is Paul. He is a 2yo lynx point siamese mix, with very interesting markings. We are keeping him and Simon seperated until after his vet appointment on June 7th just to make sure he is healthy and good to go. However, Simon is curious and like sitting next to the door of the room Paul is in. His welcome into our home didnt go quite and smoothly as I had hoped. It was a 2.5 hour car ride home, and he peed in the carrier (and on himself). So the first thing he got to experience in his new home was a bath. He was not a fan, but seems to have forgiven me for it.

I think I want to do a make over of our front entry closet. I painted it and put some peel and stick flooring down when we moved in. Right now there is a shelf and a coat rail going the length of it. We keep our winter coats in there during the summer, and I have a large tote with some seasonal/holiday decor and the leaves for our dining room table. I would like to be able to put our vacuum and possibly carpet cleaner in there, but there isn't space right now. There is a lot of "dead space" above the storage tote and below the shelf/coat rail.
I don't know if I'll be able to talk dh into another project this year.

I did 3 interviews today! (6 total set up) First one - foot in mouth but I don’t think it hurt. I recognized one of the people interviewing me and said- Hi! I used to work with your husband!… she said “ex” oops! She didn’t seem phased and said “I knew you were going to say that” Second interview - there were only 2 leaders that showed up. One was my colleague I worked at the bedside with- so we chatted the whole time and the other leader just hung out. Third- it was all the old ladies (all the nurse scientists/phds) but it was nice. One said - I think I taught you when you were a new grad (she did). I took a risk on one question they asked. I shared a really bad experience. They said “I applaud you for making that decision” whew….. Now 3 more (1 I have to do a presentation for the educators and then answer questions, and the other 2 are with former colleagues- one is the person who may be my new boss, the other is a colleague that is the new associate Chief nurse officer).
