No wonder the boomers get such bad rep!

My kids arenāt acting out too much yet, but definitely less excitement, more apprehension today. DD likes being home, but weāve had a moment or two or boredom or not wanting to do what I suggest today. DS is cranky and Iāve realized that though he likes having DD around and likes the extra āworkā Iām pulling together for him, his routine has been really disrupted so I need to make sure heās getting what he needs too. He loves games so we had some game time already and incorporated a Mickey Mouse clubhouse into the morning. Iām not sure what school work will look like next week once we can get things online, but for this week itās mostly worksheets. They donāt take long, and DD can do them pretty independently. We spent a little time on them this morning and when sheād had enough I just said as long as the rest get done sometime today, thatās fine. I mean, itās not like weāre even turning them in anytime soon. Weāll sprinkle in the education, but making sure theyāre secure and getting their individual needs met will be top priority. We have an ongoing dialogue about the challenges weāre each facing with this and how itās different for all of us, but weāre working together. I know youāre working too mrscheese so you have to balance that, but as much as you can, try to make this fun for them, and you. Have they FaceTimed with Grandma? Watched any of the live zoo feeds? The Mo Willems thing I think athena posted is really fun and J would probably love it. I think that's the biggest issue - that I'm working. I switched things up a bit today to see if it will flow better. I texted my boss and said I would be offline until this afternoon and that the kids needed my undivided attention. She was completely understanding and said it was no problem at all. So, this morning we went outside to try and see the birds that are nesting in our eaves (arrgghh! I need them to leave, but I have no way of taking care of it right now) and Facetimed Gma and Gpa to show them. We goofed around outside for a bit and then came inside for "school." After lunch we'll go for a drive and listen to a kids audible or book on tape. They like that. This afternoon they get choice time and nap for Cot while I work. DH will do more school work with them when he gets home. I wish there was a video to explain the virus and why things are closed to little kids. We have been talking about it, but a backup that's not us would be nice. It must feel so weird for them. Like, itās a Saturday because youāre home, and theyāre home. But totally not a Saturday because daddyās not home, and youāre trying to work, and you canāt go to the zoo or anything. Itās new and different and doesnāt fit the patterns they understand. DD knows that thereās a virus and we want to do everything we can to not get and not give it to everyone else. That seems to be enough for her. More than that Iāve been focusing on what wonāt change and that we will be together for as many days as we can imagine.

DS's teacher did a good job explaining everything to them. DS knows there is a virus and he needs to wash his hands and that school is canceled to keep everyone healthy. He hasn't asked many questions. Things will inevitably get harder once DC is forced to close.

Itās not bad enough I have 3 kids who are going cuckoo my parents are misbehaving something fierce. Itās ww64 at their house and somehow they got the boiler man to run away when they have 4 leaks. If they lose heat I cannot possibly have them live with me it will shorten my life.

Wisconsin has basically shut down, no gatherings over 10 people and bars and restaurants are closed (except takeout at some locations). School has been canceled for tomorrow but there will only be 6 homeschool days before spring break. Interested to see what kind of homework H comes home with today.

The governor announced that he is keeping DCs open for now especially for first responders. Our DC said that upon entering, they will be taking everyone's temps and asking several screening questions.

We are supposed to do report cards next week and I already feel like I donāt know how I would assess the kids. I canāt use the pictures of work theyāve been sending me because theyāre all clearly getting one on one help.

Weāre at 26 confirmed right now, none hospitalized, no deaths. Restaurants are carry out only, schools closed, libraries, the Y has closed, lots of companies moved to telework, hospitals and nursing homes locked down. Weāre basically pacing MA for preventative, but there are over 200 cases there. Plus we obviously donāt have the same challenges that big cities have. H got an email that someone at his company tested positive - it was a company wide email, not an alert that it was someone had contact with, so hopefully heās good and he should be able to be out of the office now. And hopefully that person is quarantined. So many people know theyāre sick or at risk and arenāt doing the right thing.

I'm pretty sure my cousin has it. She was in Italy on a work trip right before they started to get crazy. And she's sick. She has been tested and is in quarantine. Results still pending. She's usualy healthy and 25, but I can't help but worry.

My brother in law through H said they had a confirmed case at their kids daycare so theyāre all on quarintine for 2 weeks. They have a 3 year old and 4 month old- both were at that daycare. His mom watched his kids and then watched ours several days later. That was last week so within a 2 week exposure but who knows how long that kid had it before the test. Hoping very short term. We donāt have any of the details. He said the health department hasnāt called them or anything. Crazy.

The kids have done some "morning worksheets" and are now doing ABC mouse while i clean up the kitchen. Im going tk start painting the dining room and kitchen today, and just ordered a gallon of ceiling paint from the hardware store. They are doing delivery now, and it was so much eaaier than loading the kids up for a 5 min trip.
