Dude I'm kinda hating this Nazi Germany vibe. I feel like I want to tattle on my neighbor's for not complying but then I'm like who am I? I know you meant this comment to be harmless but in future I would prefer you not to use Nazi Germany like this. Especially on a day when a Holocaust survivor died of Covid 19. |

We picked up Dd1's birthday gift a few weeks ago. We were going to do a party in early June, and will probably do one whenever all of this ends.
I'm more concernded about easter stuff. We have 1 thing for eaxh of their baskets already, but amazon isnt shipping now so the rest wont come till afterwards. I think the Easter Bunny is going to leave a note with their baskets about delayed shipping and that he will be back with the rest when it comes in.

a former coworker posted a video of her kids' 6th birthday "surprise" a few days ago. They got all the neighbors to come outside and it looked like some others drove into the neighborhood. Everybody stood at the end of their driveway or at the edge of the road - like 10 feet apart or more - and when the kid went outside they all called out happy birthday and waved to her, etc. It was kinda sweet and kinda really creepy. At the end of the video the kid yelled " I can't believe I cant hug anyone!"
Her mom is one who totally would normally have done a pinterest-worthy birthday party with lots of people.
Me, on the other hand ... I'm ok with having just quiet family birthday at home again. Though it'll be harder if amazon isn't shipping fun stuff by then. Though i do have some things set aside from buying on deals so might be ok even for gifts. Dd will be a bit disappointed to not finally have a birthday party, but really will be ok as long as we can make brownies or buy her a supermarket bakery cake or if possible, both. I better make sure we have brownie ingredients stocked.

Holy crap to the severe lockdown announced in India.
I mean on the one hand, in really really really crowded places don't set foot out of your home for 3 weeks may well be necessary. But ... Even for well off families, serious hardship. Their fridges are teeny. And frozen/canned veggies are not a thing (though dried lentils/beans are) - everyone just uses fresh and buys every day off two. And for anyone with no AC ... Bad. This is the beginning of the hottest time of year. And then in the slums or even a step or two up from slums there's only a shared bathhouse and water fountain for the whole complex; no plumbing in individual homes. So how's that going to work?
Stuff's a pain in the butt here (and that "we're just called to sit on the couch" meme annoys me) but it's nothing like the hardship that lockdown will be there!

I ordered things from Kohl’s last week that will be here tomorrow and Friday, and also some things from Walmart that haven’t shipped yet, but should be here next week. Looked like Target also had a selection of things that would ship in time. Depends on what you’re looking for, but if you’re flexible you should be able to find some things in time. |

We were going to get DS a bike for his birthday. I wanted to go to bike store and get him fitted and all that but looks like we can't do that. I'm just bummed about all the things he's missing out on. He had a meltdown last night because he misses school and his friends.

I’m really thankful that our kids are so little and don’t really understand or have that much to complain about. DD misses her friends and school but she’s also quite content to be with me and ds - the benefit of clingy introvert kids I suppose.
I’m also really thankful they don’t know we were planning Disney for April vacation. They don’t have to know what they don’t know.

Peyton kept asking for things she saw on commercials last week for her birthday so I finally had to sit her down and break it to her. There won't be a way to do her birthday this year. No one will get together for a party even if this ended soon as people would still be worried. I also don't know the parents numbers other than maybe 2 of them. I just put the invited in her knapsack and ask the teachers to put them in the kid's agenda for home. No school so can't do that.
She was pretty sad and then said well I know one thing I am glad about. I am happy they didn't cancel my grandparents as I LOVE them! It was sweet. I was going to take her for a fun day at the mall and a nice lunch as she wants her ears pierced and pick out some fun earrings. That will definitely have to wait.

Ds2 birthday is the 2nd week In April I got his presents on amazon and we will have a party with my parents. We don’t do big birthdays until kids are 7 so this is normal for us.

My area is showing April 23rd for most stuff too. I needed printer paper, but thankfully staples had next day delivery. I noticed the delivery dates had been fine on amazon up until yesterday. |

Do you have Walmart near you? I did Walmart pick up yesterday. You put you order in online and get a pick up time. They roll it out to your car and you already paid online so no touching. I wad able to pick up some small toys, 2 books and some candy for Easter that way besides some regular food for the house. |
