I am not thinking we will be able to do things yet in May. We had tentatively planned for June, but I don’t know if we will be able to do that either. We were going to have kids over, hire someone to do some activities on the soccer field and have a bounce house brought in. In our heads it was going to be such fun...but it might be cake with the immediate family. Love the optimism lrmrtn but I agree, it’s probably at home parties for all this year. We are not a lock down state, and our governor says we won’t be, but there is literally nothing open right now to book. There’s 0 exit strategy right now and we haven’t reached the peak yet so it’s impossible to even predict when restrictions will start to be lifted. I’d guess the cdc will still be recommending social distancing and no gatherings. This is what I'm thinking to. Maybe we'll try to something over the summer.

Zero birthday plans here. Didn’t even think about it. She doesn’t have school for the rest of the year so I doubt we would even be able to do anything until like July / August anyway.
T’s birthday is Thursday and we canceled everything we were doing for him.

Such a shame to close playgrounds since maintaining distance shouldn't be so hard and unlikely for virus to survive on surfaces out in sunlight, harsh temperatures, etc. But if people are crowding there .... Ugh. People are dumb. Also so strange and sad to hear about limits in other countries even extending to no outdoor exercise. When really outdoor exercise should be helpful and not risky. But if people are not maintaining distance then they spoil it for others and make harsher rules needed. Ugh. The us has a lot more open space. I would think they would tell folks to get out of the city and find trails, etc...

I am not ready to hear schools closed for the year. I need hope. I am due mid June and I need sanity. I also keep wondering what happens if my work decides its safe to go back to the office say in May but the schools are out.
And trump can go to hell.

May birthday is gonna be a house party and rescheduled. He’s beginning of May so I don’t have much hope since people and businesses can’t just shut the fuck down and get this over with quickly.

meggypoo1 are schools just straight up done for the year? I think they will tell us soon. They just told us they were getting approved to have no state testing this year. My gut is soon as that is approved we will hear no in person school.

The governor announced that we should be prepared for schools to be closed for the rest of the year. I just saw this 😫 I’m not prepared to accept that yet. This has been a special kind of hell this week trying to accommodate kindergarten learning while keeping a VERY rambunctious 3 year old away, while both of us still work 40-50 hours a week.

I’m not booking anything for our May birthday. When things start to clear up I will just do a backyard party and if it’s not until June/July so be it. I have addresses for his class so that helps.

We are getting a stay at home order today but the details haven't been announced. I'm wondering if we will be able to go to our maple taps across the Michigan border to collect our sap. We won't see a single person, but I'm pretty sure they are going to deem it non-essential and we will have to shut down. The next 7 days are perfect syrup weather and we've only gotten 2 pints of finished syrup so far. We need about a gallon for our family (which takes 40 gallons of sap). Its essential. Its to get food for your family. But really how would you get caught? If you're in your own personal vehicle and then in the woods (do you guys call it the sugarbush there too?) you're not increasing anyone's risk. As long as you don't get hurt and need an ambulance. ...but hopefully that's super unlikely! And accidents can happen while staying at home too. Why does my mind even go to that possibility? I know someone living in Illinois who works in Wisconsin. They said police are stopping people at the border and asking where they are headed. I'd rather avoid that situation if it comes down to it, because we travel to Michigan for our sap and we honestly can do without. I'm going up tonight and pulling our taps. We'll tap our red maples on our property and hope for the best. It's sad because these are the things keeping me busy.

Has anyone thought about what your doing for the May birthdays? I know it's early and there is so much unknown but places could book. We won't do a party this year. I got a kids john deere gator for Micah, whose birthday is April 4th. He's turning 4, so it's his "golden birthday". We planned to do a weekend away, but that's obviously not going to happen.

T’s birthday is Thursday and we canceled everything we were doing for him. Eliza's is Thursday as well and at the most we might order food to take home, but even that I'm hesitant for. I don't know how else to make it special for her still. I was thinking of moving to Jun/Jul and maybe doing a Beach party at the lake with DD1 (her bday is in July). Our County really isn't taking it seriously. I'm lucky in that we are both still working full time and I don't see that changing, but it's still concerning how many people are bothered by this. 8 cases currently. 1 is from travel and 7 are from community spread.

I took the day off and thankfully so far it’s going to be beautiful weather so we will be in the yard all day!

DH is pissing me off. He sits in the middle of the living room work his laptop open all day"working". Everytime I try and follow the schedule for school/keep the day moving he has a comment. I say ok it's time for X he says why she is happy doing Y....etc. Last week when he was still leaving the house our days went pretty ok. I told him he is charge then and came up to hide in the bathroom.

I say talk about it later- either he’s in charge of her or you’re in charge of her and you can split up the day and both help out. Plus suggest somewhere to lose he can use as his office. Close quarters 24/7 is really hard.

jennyinheaven, can he work from another room? That sounds super frustrating. I have no idea what our schedule will look like next week when we're "back" from spring break and H is home everyday but Wednesday.

This is what I’m struggling with - keeping all three age groups under control and catered for. DS’s school work means DD2 is pretty much left to her own devices and I have barely seen DD1 this week. DD2 is used to seeing me by herself all day mon thru Friday. I miss her so much and she’s becoming such a daddy’s girl. DD1 is just in her room ft her friends and doing her online work. She’s quite happy, but it’s not healthy and I miss her. I need a new tactic but there’s no give at the moment.

Since shops and bars closed in the big cities, the police have very little to do - no shoplifting or fighting, drunkenness, violent crime etc. So they have time to be stopping cars and enforcing lockdown. Plus our small villages with the wide open spaces and fields are exactly the places people do seem to want to head to. Apart from families out for one period of exercise, we aren’t allowed to be in a group of more than 2 people!

It drove me crazy and now he has a home office and he has to keep his computer in there. I'm still annoyed he's on the main level and I have to keep the kids quiet, so he's getting a new office in the basement.

DH just gave me a lecture about putting the girls on a schedule because "they wouldn't usually have all this free time." Ummm it's spring break. Even if this wasn't happening, it'd still be spring break. I'm very laissez-faire for actual school holidays.
