DD wants an Elsa styling head. Walmart has one today for $10, but apparently only in store. Amazon has a deluxe version of $20 and that sounds better than having to go to Walmart. Does your Walmart do curbside? I have the app and get anything I need there that way. I hate going into Walmart these days. They do, but that item won’t let me ETA I hate going to Walmart anyway. It’s always an experience.

I went last week at 5 am with my mom to help her get giant stuffed animals for my kids. I saw those styling heads then. Didn't realize they were also only in store.

I have no idea what to get the boys for Hanukkah they are 4 and 5 DS is 4. He loves board games of all sorts - current favorites are sequence kids, race to the treasure, and outfoxed, which is a bit more complex but we don’t play with all the rules. He’s asking for a remote control car. On his list I have a marble run compatible with duolos, and a pretend camping set.

DS's school is having their Scholastic book fair online. Any recommendations for a "reluctant" on grade level reader? @scout2510, springbeduk?

I have no idea what to get the boys for Hanukkah they are 4 and 5 Hanna Andersson has Hanukkah pajamas that are nice and warm. I got a pair for myself too 😂 www.hannaandersson.com/pajamas-kids/59852-NN1.html?dwvar_59852-NN1_color=NN1&cgid=pajamas-kidsMy girls like having their own kids’ silver kiddush cups. I might get them a mezuzah for their bedroom door. Also I’ve been seeing a Hanukkah craft set on my FB feed, let me see if I can find it again; not sure if it’s age appropriate for the boys but should at least be good for your DD1. For toys , I like cooperative board games Richard’s Scarry busytown; Hoot Owl Hoot; Qwirkles; Outfoxed. Also a memory game. And Uno

I like to shop toys They are past dinosaurs they play Minecraft on the Nintendo. Ds2 wants the Lego fire station but he’s not ready I was thinking of getting him the duplo one but it’s $42 not sure it’s worth it. Ds2 loves fire trucks and garbage trucks he already has a lot. Ds1 loves snakes which of course I’m terrified of We have trains, blocks, LEGO’s

I would show him the catalogue and let him pick what he wants. The problem is he'll just say I don't know. I was just wondering if there was an author or series that would be more engaging. He's on grade level and reads fine for his teacher but refuses to read at home.

DS's school is having their Scholastic book fair online. Any recommendations for a "reluctant" on grade level reader? @scout2510, springbeduk? Has he read any of the Fly Guy books? Those usually go over well and Scholastic sells them. The Mo Willems Elephant & Piggie books are good too but more likely to have already been read aloud. Nobody ever does read alouds of fly guy. The national geographic kids are good for nonfiction that scholastic sells but there's a bunch of different levels of them - I'd guess you want 2s but might be remembering wrong. scout251? If he's actually a bit above level - at end of 1st already (J) or will be soon, I just love the Henry and mudge books. They have chapters *and* colored illustrations and not an overwhelming amount of words on any page. They probably won't be in the book fair but should be able to get some from book club order online (where you aren't restricted to just what's in the catalog) Has his teacher been teaching for a long time? If she is newish and might need more books for the classroom then its actually better to order through the regular book orders (i think they are doing those ship to home now too but the teacher still gets credit) and the prices and selection ate usually better too. Book club orders give the teacher free books and also bonus points the teacher can save up and use for books or other stuff whenever. (november deal is often good - more bonus points etc for the teacher per dollar spent; December isn't usually). Book fairs give money or scholastic credit to the school (often used for the school library; sometimes PTO). Good if your kid's teacher is late-career but otherwise book clubs are better. When you say on grade level - do you know what letter level he is at now?

We've read some of those and he liked them but I didn't see any at the book fair. So far I in my cart I have a Star Wars phonics set, a "who would win?" book and a book on volcanoes.

Yeah the book fairs (at least in person) always have annoyingly odd and limited selections. Lots of kids love the "who would win?" books - the text is usually pretty hard (mid second grade level or so) but good for reading together!

I also got him the Nat Geo 1st Book of Science. He has the one on dinos and likes it.

Anyone know, does the my generation dolls stuff fit American girl dolls?
DD has asked for an American girl doll. She started with the $250 sworovski bedazzled one, ha not happening. We did get her the same doll but not the nutcracker version as her one big gift. But I’ve had family ask if the clothes from target fit and I have no idea.

There are also tons of options for cheaper clothes on Amazon. If your buying for American girl just make sure it is fitted for 18 inch dolls. The Wellie Wishers are smaller and wear 14inch sized clothing so both options may come up.
