I’m intrigued...what British shows do you all watch? 😂 I'll have to ask her! If she likes Downton Abbey - there’s a great book called Christmas at Highclere (the real Downton) written by the Countess and it’s about their Christmas traditions, recipes, their visitors, decorations etc. The photographs are beautiful. I’m adding it to my Christmas list 😂

My mom loves Downton Abbey. My aunt introduced her. They even went to a Downton Abbey high tea, Some places have Downton Abbey themed teas that she likes.

That will narrow down some Whovian things.

I think she liked the last guy. I don't watch it so I'm of no help. The only reason I know that much was because she told me when the new Doctor was a woman.

I got a train table for dd2s birthday but am having trouble choosing the actual train set. There are so many different sets & brands on Amazon and I don’t know anything about train sets. Anyone have a wooden train set that has held up well that’s not super expensive?
And I had asked DHs sisters if they wanted to go in on the Power Wheels a couple weeks ago and no one really responded. I just bought it myself and was going to give it yo both girls from us for Christmas. All of a sudden, now they want to chip in and cover the whole gift. So now we don’t have any Christmas gift for the girls from us.

But what other things are they interested in?

I kind of overbought for Santa gifts because I didn’t keep track of what I was getting so I could just take some of those gifts and make them from us and be sure to let the girls know that mommy told their aunts to get them the car and still kinda take credit for it without actually paying for it. It was definitely an impulse buy so maybe they are saving me from myself.

The tracks and trains are all compatible no matter the brand.

Ok, those are the only brands I had actually heard of but Brio sets seem to be much pricier than others on Amazon and I didn’t know if it was worth the price difference. Thanks!

We have trains and tracks from all different brands and they all work together so I don't think the brand matters that much unless you want everything to match.

Ikea was the nicest wood set we found for the price. I actually have a ton of track and stuff that DD is over if anyone is interested.

For what it’s worth, when my brother and I were little we had a brio train set that was played with constantly. My kids now have it and play with it. Completely worth the money. We’ll likely add onto it once DS gets bigger but DD still plays with it all the time and has held up very well over the 25 plus years.

This is really random, but I'm looking for Hot Wheels color shifting cars in stock online. I had no idea these were even a thing and they are what M wants for Christmas. It's out of stock most places I've looked or they are marked way up.

I’d offer to ship some to you but everything here costs 3x more than in the US.

scotty looks like they are in stock at Walmart near me. How many are you wanting? Dh just told me he's heading to a town with a Walmart today and they have some! I put in an order for pickup. Thanks for the advice, we don't make it to Walmart very often but it worked out perfectly.

I ordered 3 but it will be interesting to see if we get 3 different or 3 of the same. Either way, I hope they work with the hot wheels set MIL got him.

My boys like Thomas but I would suggest if you have wild children to get the plastic trains and not the old school heavier ones because my 4 year old busted the 6 year olds head open with one a year ago. The metal trains are like small rocks.

There are Thomas ones that are lighter plastic but some of the wooden sets come with the heavier ones.
