Merry Christmas! So far things are okay. Ds3 seems to feel the crummiest - which makes since - no vaccine yet. But overall everyone is okay.

Merry Christmas, I'm making my "famous" mashed potatoes for dinner at DH's side family dinner later. His family swears I make the most delicious potatoes and I have to make them every Christmas pre covid. My big secret is I just fill them with all types of fat filled dairy😂 ![](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20211225/f7be284bd140a317cccd7870ad83b71c.jpg) I made Ina Garten’s make ahead Goat Cheese Mashed Potatoes and they were soo good…but disgustingly bad for you - butter, goat cheese, sour cream, milk & parmesan cheese.

Merry Christmas! Grateful for your friendship.
My in-laws left a day early because of mountain pass conditions. I’m not sad.

Merry Christmas Everyone!
Was too busy to come on yesterday. We had a nice day with my parents, went for breakfast and presents and then a lunch of meat and cheese and fruit and crackers and then home to take all of our stuff in. Then back for dinner and dessert. Peyton was very cute and appreciative of her gifts from everybody and BF got me this new leg extension that is sturdier than my other one and also can do hamstrings and stuff so excited to put that together.
Taking the dog for a nice hike today and then cooking our own Christmas dinner for here. Tomorrow we go visit his kids for a lunch in Toronto.

springbeduk Matt is vaccinated, and he doesn't feel sick, but just being around my Ex who is positive so yes should quarantine to not get others sick. Also what if he just tested positive a few days later but visited and exposed my parents. Peyton has only had her one shot so far. We have to wait for her second shot. But then when talking with Matt yesterday afternoon find out that my ex decided to not stay home and has been at his girlfriends each day so Matt literally was sitting in his room yesterday on Christmas all alone. I was so not happy to find this out.

We had a good Christmas here. We had pancakes and bacon for breakfast and then opened presents afterwards. Dd1 was thrilled to get the Baby Yoda that she asked Dana for, and Dd2 was also thrilled with her Paw Patrol toy. We had friends over for an appetizer lunch and then played games all afternoon while the 3 kids ran around and played and watched movies and shows.
The friends that we had over had a house fire last Sunday and are in a hotel for the foreseeable future. They weren't inside the house when it started, and all of their inside pets survived. The house was originally a 1 level semi underground house, and 50ish years ago the pervious owners built and upper level and added electric baseboard heaters. A wire for the heating between one of the bedrooms (their sons) and the upper floor bathroom got damaged, and is what started the fire. Fire Marshall said that it arcing and was probably smoldering for a couple of weeks, and took a while to find something to catch on. There isn't a whole lot of fire damage, but lots of smoke damage in the upper level, and lots of water damage in the lover level. They remodeled their upper bathroom last year, and put all new ova pipes in. Doing that actually saved the house, since the pipes melted and burst, and kept the fire from getting out of control. Our friend were up in the cities visiting family last Sunday and got home around 9:30pm. They were feeding and watering their horses, sheep, goats and chickens and when they turned back to the house after doing all that they saw the fire. inside the house they had 3 cats, a dog and a bearded dragon, all of which survived. Ironically the bearded dragon is names Fuego and his cage was right next to the wall where the fire was happening.
Another friend and I have offered up our washers and dryers when ever they need them to do laundry, and I let my friend know that if she needs a quiet place with better internet than the hotel they are at to work, she is welcome to come here any day and use my sewing room. Once the kids go back to school next week the house will be quiet. I used to work at the hotel she is staying at, and the internet there sucks and cuts out A LOT.

I haven't heard of Huttopia but just looked it up since you made me curious - it's in southern Maine (website says near Kennebunkport and Wells) not near Acadia. Probably halfway from where you are, or actually closer to you than it is to Acadia. For where to stay in Acadia - I haven't stayed in any hotels or rentals - lrmrtn could maybe tell you if the place they stayed last summer was good?- but did you mean which area?

My grandma gave MH a Purple Heart keychain. H is not a Purple Heart participant. Such cringe. He's going to take it to the local American Legion and have them get it to someone who actually deserves it.
We did Christmas with her and my siblings today, and that's not the only miss from her, but definitely the cringiest.
Overall, it was a good holiday, but we need to rethink how we do stuff at my mom's. Our immediate family has switched to having my parents over in the morning for breakfast and presents and then chilling until dinner time and going to their house for food and games. But this year, my brother and SIL were late, and so they didn't open their presents before the meal, which my mother insists needs to be in the middle of the day. So then we were sitting around for over an hour waiting for them to open their presents and didn't really get any real game time in.
I've told my mom that if this is going to continue and she HAS to have a midday meal, we'll probably skip the meal and have them text us when the presents are over.

Yes which area We stayed in an air bnb within walking distance to town (Bar Harbor). It was great because we didn't have to worry about parking which was a nightmare. Bar Harbor is packed in the summer so if you want something quieter, you may want to consider a different part of the island.

rainbowsockmonkey, I'm glad they weren't there and that it wasn't a total loss. But how devastating to have that happen. A family in my town had a fire Christmas eve. Two of the kids and the dad didn't survive. Mom and one kid got out. I can't even imagine. The one kid was in second grade but goes to a different elementary in the district then DD.

That’s awful jennyinheavenI hate Progressive insurance they refunded my payment of 1k back to my credit card instead of sending me a check. After I paid my new insurance company over 3k for all our insurance and was counting on the money to pay taxes. 🤯

Definitely didn't mean to overshadow rainbowsockmonkey 's friends tragedy. I was just do relieved after hearing about the family in my town that your friend and her family are safe and healthy. In my mind things can be replaced people cannot. And the fact that it happened at Christmas kinda ruins the holidays for the survivors forever.

In my mind things can be replaced people cannot. And the fact that it happened at Christmas kinda ruins the holidays for the survivors forever. You didn't overshadow it. I saw a bit on the news tonight about the family in PA. My friend knows that is very fortunate with how it happened to her. She talked with her insurance, and they are looking at 3 months estimated to be back in their house. She asked me if we would want to take care of her 2 kittens. Her insurance would pay us to take care of them. It isn't much more work really than Simon. The 2 things that are hold us back from doing it, are that we dont want the girls to get attached to them, and we also haven't ripped out the carpet where Star was peeing. It doesn't smell (to us), but we are worried that the 2 new kittens may start marking. We are planning on starting to rip out the carpet after our disney trip in a few weeks. BUT, depending on how much we get paid by the insurance company, that might pay for a good chunk of the new carpet we want to put in. Dh and I both have to think about it.
