I'm sorry so many are sick. Sending healthy thoughts to you all. So far we have avoided any sickness and were able to see some family we haven't seen in 2 years. Now we will lay low for a while just in case. Our school district just posted a "pre-screening at home" info graphic that says kids can come to school if they are vomiting, so that's where our community is at. We started the year thinking maybe we could send the kids at semester but I guess we will just keep them home all year. They want vomiting children at school?!? Yea, thats a no from me. Dd1 threw up last year in class. She was fine when she went in that morning, and never once had an elevated temp. The nurse said she could stay if she felt better, and I knew it was probably a one time thing, but I got my butt up to the school to pick her up right away. No kid should be feeling like that and be forced to go to school because the school allows it.

They want vomiting children at school?!? As long as that is their only symptom of illness they can be there. ![](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20211231/c24e43655ba9c3f9f6c9c7a65c7571d7.jpg) Ugh that’s disgusting. The poor students that wind up throwing up at school, the poor teachers who have to deal with that and the poor classmates that have to see it and possibly get puked on. I’ll tell ya right now, no learning is happening after someone vomits in your classroom.

I remember once years ago DD1 was sick at school (completely out of the blue as I would never have sent her if I thought she was ill). Well the teacher called me to tell me to come and get her and that there was so much sick, it covered all the kids work laid out on the table and was dripping off the table and onto the floor. I offered to come in and clean it up as was horrified! A poor member of staff had already done it but I would not wish that on anyone.

This is insane I would never be able to show my face at the school again if I sent my kid vomiting. One time dd vomited during a class party and we thought she ate something she was allergic to and the room parents were in a huff.

It really shows just how much importance the district has put on being in school vs staying home to keep others healthy. I know most parents wouldn't send a kid that sick. At least I would hope.

scotty that is just horrible for everyone. DS's biggest fear when he puked from the vaccine was that he would puke in school. not that I even considered sending him to school...

Our school system just announced virtual again starting Tuesday (for a week). I’ve been on pto since 12/24 due to covid quarantining. We can return on 1/3 and now we can’t. H is on call all week and I’m teaching in person next week. I feel so overwhelmed.

activebaby that's really stressful! Will the before/after care place your older 2 go to run a full day/remote learning program for the week? Or are they just closing?

scotty that infographic is awful!!! Vomiting should definitely be in the left column! Yuck! the little " *all other health protocols still apply" at the bottom probably actually means kids still shouldn't be at school if vomiting. I hope. But they certainly aren't making it obvious. Pretty much every place has always had a 24 hour no puke rule. Or at least 12. It might get flexed a bit for kids known to have a reflex thing that means they sometimes vomit when not sick, or kids known to vomit with migraines (go home that day but allowed back at school the next day if feeling ok), but that's all. Here even the covid deniers don't want stomach bugs and get pissy if people send their kids to daycare or school with that! In fact that's partly how they minimize covid - they'll say they (or an acquaintance) had covid a while ago and then now got whatever stomach bug is going around and the stomach thing was way worse. And then somehow they don't get punched by people who had family members die from or get in icu with covid.

Previously they just stop offering after school. And they aren’t interested on run just a virtual school. I haven’t done any work to figure this out. It’s total denial.

If this last year has taught us anything, its that a large part of the population doesn't care about the health and well being of the others if it inconveniences themselves.
