I can't believe we have all been talking to each other for over 8 years at this point. What's everyone doing to celebrate their 8-year-old birthday? DD is one of the oldest on this board since she was actually born early in April instead of her May due date, so I understand not everyone has made a plan yet

DD1 wants a sleepover with her two BFFs. So we'll be doing that. And I have a 6 year old that comes two weeks after that who also wants a sleepover with her BFFs. So we'll probably do a double thing and have 4 extra children at our house.
DD1 also wants an emoji theme, but I get to pick the one used for her cake.

Dd is getting multiple small celebrations. On Easter, which is 2 days before her birthday we will have a cake at DH's parents adter Easter dinner. Her birthday is that Tuesday and Dh will be traveling so I'm going to pick her up from school take her to Target to pick 2 gifts and out to dinner/ dessert of her choosing ( I think she is leaning Red Robin. My parents are coming up to join us. Then, the weekend after, her and I are going to American Girl with an overnight package at a nearby hotel ( doll beds and such) with 2 of her cousins and my sister-in-law.

I just happened to ask my sil about it as she had taken one of my neices before. She asked if she could come with my two nieces, so I was like, of course. It worked out since she invited herself, we are splitting the cost, and DD gets to celebrate with her cousins.

All C has said was that she wants to have her friends over. Idk if I have the creative mind right now to do that. I suggested having a party at the studio she dances at and she loved that idea after I told her we can still have the family over the house for a party (I don’t have to do an extra entertainment for them so I am happy about that). That’s about all I know so far but she is also at the end of May and I just got over T’s party 😂

I haven’t thought much about it yet. DS2 turns 1 next week and I haven’t figured out his birthday yet either. DD told me a couple weeks ago that she didn’t want anything girly or to frilly for her birthday this year but, that’s all she has said.

DD1 also has an earlier birthday (the day after your dd’s birthday jennyinheaven). There is so much drama with the kids in her grade this year that she was hesitant to have a big party anyway since it’s typically worse in big groups. I really don’t have the $600+ that parties around here typically cost anyway so instead, we told her she could get the nintento switch if she skipped the party. We will celebrate with family on Easter and then have an all day play date with my bff and her daughter another day.

DS1 wants the local bowling alley. It will cost a bit more than I was hoping to spend but he has gotten screwed more than his brother for birthdays the past 2 years so he gets what he wants this time.

I haven't put any thought into Dd1's birthday but she is towards the end of May so I have a bit of time. We are supposed to get the new carpet right around then, so I'm not sure what we will do. Maybe I can talk her into having a party at the local bowling alley. It was pretty cheap when we had Dd2s there back in 2019.

We had a recent experience with Cot not getting invited to a bday party with school kids so now I’m hyper aware of inviting all the boys or girls or whole class and OMG to the price tag. I think I’ve convinced J to do a Mariners game with just me and dh instead of a $600 bday for the whole class or $400 for just the boys. Hopefully he goes with the M’s game. I would even get him really good seats. Dnw a giant expensive party.

DS has been asking to go to Legoland so we are going to surprise him with that and let him pick out some legos. not sure if we're staying overnight or not as it's pretty expensive. He'll also have smaller celebrations with family.

DD1 originally wanted to invite all the girls and then only have her two best friends sleep over. We nixed that, because the girls who didn't get to stay would see themselves as second tier guests.

Ohhh mrscheese I love the ballgame idea! We are planning on a at the house party for ds1 and Ds2 separately. I wanted to blend them but Ds lost his mind at having that (which is unlike him because he always lets his brothers share). This is likely our last year here, so I’m all about the house party. I think ds2’s (july) will have to be in June. So I have set dates on the calendar, but not done anything else.

Yeah I would never let her have a party at this age without inviting all of the girls or her entire class but there’s one boy in her class that’s particularly mean to her so we would do girls only. But then there are a few girls in other classes that she’s friendly with and it just spirals out of control. Many of her friend’s families also have way more money than us so they’ve all had over the top parties and it really sucks trying to keep up with that. I’m glad she was into the Nintendo idea.

I honestly haven't planned anything and feel like her birthday is totally sneaking up on me this year. My house is too small for all the kids as Hallowe'en Party proved that. It was so hard to keep them focused and occupied.
Early May is still usually not great weather. It most likely would rain or be a little cool. Would like to see if there is a rec centre with a main room that I could book instead.

We celebrated her Bday on her bday 3/26 out of town at a Zoo. We invited my parents and my brother. We did lunch, and had a cookie cake. Everything that she requested. I don't think I'll be doing a big group party. I'm just boycotting them this year I think haha And she hasn't really asked ever so why offer it?

We are having A's this weekend at the skating rink. I'm sure it's a me thing, but having it at a place stresses me out because of the time constraints and other people so I was able to convince G to do a party at home with a bouncy house. I know it's a made up thing, but it's her golden birthday so that's the theme. I can't resist a good theme 😁

We have a fancy donut shop about half of a block from my house; it can be dangerous at times😂 Bonus my neighbor works there, so she got it for me half price.
