This is the first year I'm having to deal with getting a "hot toy." DD2 is absolutely in love with the Mama surprise Guinea pig hutch thing. Luckily I've already snagged one, as they seem out of stock in most places.

DS basically wants any Minecraft lego sets he doesn't have, including the very expensive ones, anything related to Jurassic World Dominion, Netflix guns, stuff animals and light sabers. He also wants fish. DH used to have fish so already has the tank and knows what to do. But he knows he'll end up doing most of the work so I'm leaving it up to him to decide.

I don’t know what to get the kids for Christmas. Ds2 and 3 are happy with anything and everything. Ds1 will be harder.

I'm trying to do a major decluttering before the holidays. I'm hoping to sell some of the things the kids don't use anymore (train table, hot wheels tracks, duplos) and use that money for their gifts this year. It will motivate me to get more stuff listed on marketplace.
I am always looking for lego deals. I try not to buy any sets that aren't on sale but all 3 boys love them right now.

I keep trying to convince the kids to get rid of stuff. I was all set to sell their Go Go Smart Wheels before the holidays, but they just dragged them back out to start playing with them again. They are always like that. DD1 is obsessed with Legos too. She likes the Friends sets, and desperately wants the big treehouse. I keep waiting for that one to go on sale, but it's always the smaller sets that do.

Kids haven't asked for them, so I guess that's another one to quietly get rid of. M wants that lego tree house too. He has the smaller one he bought with birthday money. It's a really cool set but that price...oof. And in our house it would get built once and then end up mixed into a big bin of other legos.

I got rid of some of DS's toys recently without him even knowing otherwise he wouldn't let anything go. I found a toy from when he was a toddler that he hasn't played with in years and was mad I was getting rid of it.

They'll definitely notice if they just disappear.

FIL gets special deals on legos because he's a big spender there, so we usually ask him to look for things. But the treehouse is basically our whole Christmas budget for one child.

DD1 got the $150 Main Street set in September that way.

Have any of you gotten the Amazon fire kids tablet (with the year of Amazon kids content included)? Do I want that?
So far i have just had a regular Kindle fire and put pbskids and khan academy kids on it (and they can get to youtube from the browser, and watch prime shows too though they haven't been liking them lately); I'm planning to buy another kindle fire but just not sure if I want it with the kids content or if it'll make me crazy and I just want to buy a plain one and a separate case.
I don't like most nickelodeon shows at all (except peppa pig might be on nick?)- that's the main thing making me hesitate. I see a Mickey mouse icon too ... I also don't like Mickey mouse much/would rather ds not watch it. Other Disney would be more ok.

Putting this here since everyone is more likely to be sure kids aren't reading over your shoulder if you're in this thread ...
Do your M14 kids still believe in SC? If they're questioning (my dd is, big time), how are those of you who also have younger kid(s) handling it?

Girl believes that unicorns are real because she saw one at a carnival once. She knows that the tooth fairy is real because she brings money and has left notes. I have a feeling she'll believe longer than DD2.

If they're questioning (my dd is, big time), how are those of you who also have younger kid(s) handling it? Ds asked a lot last year. My response was to ask what he thinks. I told him “I just think it’s all magical.” If he tells me he doesn’t believe and wants to talk about it I guess I will. He has been okay with my “it’s magical” response so far. He told me he knows the tooth fairy is me. My response - I think it’s just magical…lol I’m worried about him ruining the magic for the little ones. I’m afraid to really get into it with him because if a tiny bit still believes in the magic of Christmas I want to let it last.

He asks questions like how does Santa get to everyone and I say magic and so far, he's happy with that response.

I think if he finds out he will keep it secret because he is very cautious of everyone's feelings, maybe a bit too much.

Tooth fairy covered by leaving a note about the cat. They are going to write their letters to Santa tomorrow, mostly so I have them locked in on what they want and I can order it, and we are going to see Santa on the 7th.

springbeduk we had the kids fire tablets when the girls were younger and I liked them. It may not be worth it to you though if there is specific stuff you don't want them to watch. On the topic of Santa, my girls still believe. I don't think I'll be sad when they don't anymore. I'm ready to be done with buying stuff that doesn't get played with. I just want to take a big family trip for Christmas every year.

I got almost all of my holiday shopping done today online. The only ones that I dont know what I'm getting yet are my nieces and nephew on Dh's side. Everyone else I've either bought for, ir have figured out what to buy at an actual store.
Today after school I took Dd2 to pick out something for Dd1, and either tomorrow or Wednesday after school (depending on weather) I'll take Dd1 to pick out something for Dd2.
