activebaby, staying warm is hard here. We have dangerous wind chills over the past few days so have all had to stay inside. My kids even had e-learning today, which was a disaster as none of the teachers could get Google Meets to work. I'm so over having the kids home. Here's to hoping they are back in person tomorrow. Thankfully, dance tonight wasn't cancelled so I can get them out of the house for a bit.

You all will laugh. My kids had a 3 hour delay because we had below freezing weather. No precipitation currently.

It's either in person or e-learning. I wouldn't have minded a delayed start for cold. But I do know it is inconvenient for working parents.

I was practically dancing when they finally got to school today. 🤣 It was a loooong weekend.

My kids are home again after the shortest school week in the world. We have an actual snow day today at least. Too much togetherness

School has been weird this semester for the kids. Last week: normal day, Early release 3 hours, 2 hour delay, 2 normal days This week: 2 normal days, 3 hour delay, 2 normal days Next week: 2 teacher work days, 3 planned regular days Also the school district beside me is going through something awful. Many employees got a pay cut as the salaries were looked at for market adjustments. They all got raises in oct (per Facebook groups) and then got told they were lowering/changing their levels. Some got cut$1,000/month! So there are lots of strike/call outs. No one to drive students to school, no one in cafeteria. And they had a power issue so some Of the schools had to close for no power. So as I complain about irregular schedules I’m so super thankful this didn’t happen in my county. www.cbs17.com/news/local-news/durham-county-news/dps-is-on-fire-durham-school-employees-flock-to-heated-meeting-with-leaders-after-unexpected-pay-cuts/amp/

My kids are home again. And probably will be tomorrow as well. One of us may not make it out of this sane, and it's probably me.

activebaby that's horrible, and quite nutty, that the school district near you is cutting pay/taking back raises for support staff! How do they expect to keep schools open? That is such a crappy way to treat people, and those positions already don't pay well enough (in general- i assume it's true there too) and at least around here, pay at other jobs has gone up so much - people are working at Walmart instead because it now pays as much or more with less stress!

We're getting a massive ice storm. We've already been notified that it's e-learning tomorrow. They didn't send the chromebooks home on Thursday, and this is their third day out for weather in a row. We're lucky to have some extra machines for the girls to use tomorrow, and they've done full snow days for both Friday and Monday. But still.

Guys, I ran over another fucking nail in the same fucking tire. This time, we're replacing it because it can only be patched so much. This is ridiculous.

Dd2 is home sick today. She was home sick yesterday. Yesterday she just said she felt pukey, but didn't actually puke. This morning I had to go upstairs and get her. I sat on her bed to wake her up, and could feel the heat radiating off of her body. Her temp was 103.4, and she said she felt pukey again. Gave her Motrin and water bottle filled with ice water to lay down with.
FIL called last night and asked dh if he would come over this weekend to help him fix a leak somewhere in the house. Dh said yes, and that he would bring the kids, leaving me with the house to myself. With Dd2 waking up the way she did this morning, no one is going anywhere. Last month, I needed help to have a break on a Sunday, and asked my inlaws if they wanted to come and watch the kids for a few hours so I could get presents wrapped, and some other things in my sewing room done that I needed to get done. They agreed, but already had plans to go and see MIL's mom, but that they would take the kids with them. That morning, Dd1 woke up with a migraine, and then threw up. I texted MIL to tell her Stella had a migraine, and had thrown up, so she would be staying home with me, but that Dd2 would still be able to go with them. They completely canceled on me, because they "didn't want to catch what we had in the house if it was contagious" That's not how migraines work. Oh well, I pivoted and got half of what I wanted to done that day. All that to say that MIL texted Dh to say that even though Dd2 is sick, HE could still come over and help FIL. Despite the fact that we now obviously have a virus of some kind in our house, she is totally ok with him going, but wasn't when Dd1 had a completely non-contagious thing. Dh is at least on my side with this.
Oh, and within 3 hours of puking, Dd1 was back to normal that day, and the only thing that Amelia felt was disappointment.

I just want to complain about Girl Scout Cookie stuff for a minute. I had booth sales set up for two different weeks at different places. I just woke up to an email that cancelled one of them, and then when I went to check on why, my other booth had been moved to the same time as the cancelled one! It makes no sense.

Have you been able to avoid the stuff your girls have gotten, so far? Also, you deserve all sorts of karma points for dealing with cookie stuff. It's a lot. (And makes me just totally avoid girl scouts/be very glad it hasn't caught dd's interest!)

She is also the troop leader, and her troop has been working on their bronze award. (I only know a little about some of this, because I've been helping her getting stuff ready).

So random airline fuckery. We're going to Disney in June. Got our flights booked in January. Email today said they had changed our flights. On the return, they had us flying from Orlando to Chicago, then to Charlotte in South Carolina, then BACK to Chicago. Made absolutely zero sense.
We have a different schedule now.

Have any of you gone to a lego land ? (I don't even know how many there are /where they are! I know Google will tell me, but it'll be a rabbit hole). I don't think I can deal with Disney, and really my kids aren't that into Disney stuff, but Legos ... sounds very fun and like I shoukd maybe make the effort before dd gets too old. ??
