So the 5 year old begging to watch me give birth is a hard no right? I mean if it was my kids I would say yes but they basically know their way around a surgical suite. Nothing grosses them out. And you could always ask to have them stay at your head and have them come in only when you are ready to push. I’m not necessarily opposed but I feel like he might have different feelings when he’s a teenager and still has memories of watching his mom give birth. Idk... I want to be all- sure why not. But he would ask 1000 questions during the birth. He’s already obsessed with YouTube videos of women’s pregnant bellies. He really likes the videos of painted bellies and also of the belly montage of it getting bigger. He knows baby is going to come out of my vagina. He still sees me naked occasionally, though not with my legs spread open lol. Im thinking maybe let him watch the video we have of me giving birth to him (it’s a side view) and see how that goes...

E dropped his bedtime feeding and now only nurses once a day. I'm not ready for him to wean. 😭 He doesn't like to snuggle, so BF is all I get.

Dd1 puked again. Brightside: I was planning on being up for a while anyway, so it really doesnt impact my sleep, and we didnt have hotdogs for dinner. Downside: we had mac and cheese for dinner. 🤢

I don’t think there is that much in there. Otherwise just at bedtime really. I’m not pushing for it to be over yet either. Luckily for me he is super cuddly all the time.

Anyone have Sling TV? We have had PS Vue for years, but they are discontinuing it at the end of the month. We're debating between Hulu Live and Sling TV.

It was the only way we could get local channels and NFL games. I really like it and its 1/2 the cost we were paying for DirecTV. I don't know much about Sling though, just that we couldn't get local stuff here with it.

We have the Orange package plus the 4 extras (Sports, Kids, News, and Lifestyle). They were running something when we signed up that you could get those 4 for $10 extra instead of paying $5 a piece. We don't get any of the local channels where we are, which is kind of annoying, but we get enough of the channels the kids like and I got to watch Hallmark and Lifetime Christmas movies. I like it. We had DirecTV NOW for a couple months after cancelling our satellite last year, and it was a pain. I much prefer Sling. No experience with HULU Luve though.

Thanks athena and scotty. We do have an antenna to get the local channels, but I can't get them all to come through in our bedroom so I guess Hulu live will be our best option.

How do you get your kids to keep their glasses on? DD1 had been doing really well, but the past couple of weeks she keeps pushing them on the top of her head. If she doesn't wear them she will eventually be legally blind in one eye.

If she doesn't wear them she will eventually be legally blind in one eye. DS does the same thing after awhile though it's getting less and less. It took him a long time to wear them without a fight and to leave them on most of the day. We told his teacher at the start of the year that he wouldn't wear them so she said she'd work on it with him and he's gotten a lot better. I'd suggest getting her teacher to help. How bad are her eyes? DS's weren't that bad when he first got them so he didn't see a big difference so he didn't have an incentive to wear them. The eye doctor said there are eye drops that make their vision temporarily blurry so it encourages them to wear them. You could ask about that.

One of her eyes is really bad but the other isn't so her brain compensates with the good eye so she doesn't think it's that bad. I got frustrated and made her wear an eyepatch for a bit earlier. We blocked out her good eye so she could see how bad her vision is in the other. She was not a fan. I will mention is to her teacher when school starts back up next week. We had talked to her about it at the beginning of the year right after she got the glasses, but it may be worth it to mention it again

athena, my eyes are the same way. Does she have a lazy eye? I do and I had to do patching as a kid. My eye doctor said it made a huge difference.

So Dd1 only puked the one time last night, and then was fine. After talking with a friend about it today, she mentioned that it might be abdominal migraines. I looked them up, and they fit her symptoms. I'm planning on bringing it up with her Dr on Tuesday at her ear check. This could potentially explain ALL of the puking she has been doing since she was 2.5yo. I get migraines, and mine started right around that age.

athena I got your Christmas card. Thanks! I actually would keep doing some eye patching each day, I had 2 foster kids and the patching helped their bad eye so much. Both of them had the same thing of the good eye always taking over and this forced the bad eye to do some work. As for wearing her glasses, I would be mean and just tell her flat out it is not an option not to wear them. She gets a consequence each time she pushes them up. Decide on the consequence ahead of time and tell her this is what you are doing and she has been informed so no surprises. Matt had certain things he kept doing as a kid and while he didn't like the consequence, he also absolutely knew what was coming. He was a crazy stubborn one, I bet your kid is not that crazy and will learn quickly not to do it.

Today is Frozen 2 day!! My kid is crazy excited. I had promised we would go if she listened well while on the carpet during circle time at school (she has gotten quite chatty this year). She has been a lot better and now that the holidays are over it's a good day for it.
So now the snow decided to fall gently right now and we have Frozen on before we get ready to go 😀 Looking forward to a bunch of popcorn and treats soon 🍿🍫🍬

If you think that is what it is you should try giving ibuprofen when it starts. Worth a try, especially if she recognizes early hints that it's coming on, but sometimes with migraines especially pukey ones the valve between stomach and small intestine just stays closed up so oral medications are much less effective than they would normally be. She might need a nasal mist or sublingual med.

She might need a nasal mist or sublingual med. They don’t give nasal mist or sub meds to kids until they are older bc the dose can’t be adjusted appropriately. We have a limited med list for Ds1 due to his age. So far propanolol has been the best.

She might need a nasal mist or sublingual med. I'm going to keep a close eye on her when she's puking and see if I can notice any "tells" for her and help her to learn to recognize them. I'm going to ask about a nasal mist and/or and antiemetic for her. When she starts puking, the time between can vary anywhere from 30min to a couple of hours between, making it hard to get anything to stay in. When she id puking I typically start by giving her puffs/cheerios/crackers/applesauce/water as starters. We just got a new weather thing for Christmas that now tells us indoor/outdoor temp and humidity as well as shows the barometric pressure changes for the last 36 hours (those are things that can cause mine). I'm also going to start her on a daily does of Claritin (helps with mine).

I think we may try having her wear the eyepatch for a few minutes a day from here on forward. Thanks everyone. I was 13 when I got my glasses and originally didn't need them all the time so it was a different sort of transition for me.

DS had his three month routine asthma appointment today. They aren’t happy with his progress so he’s moving from a brown inhaler onto a purple to try and reduce his symptoms (especially the coughing and being sick from the cough). Does anyone have purple inhaler experience? Just curious as I have no experience with this. What is the difference between the two?

We have sling blue and orange plus some extra channels. I like it, but I don’t get abc and nbc. I have at&t cable, that comes in a package with basic cable for one room. I thought I could bridge some of the local tv. It has worked for some, but abc streaming is blocked in Atlanta so that sucks.

Does anyone have purple inhaler experience? Just curious as I have no experience with this. What is the difference between the two? Blue is his reliever inhaler (ventolin) which relaxes the airways to make breathing easier. He takes this morning and night and anytime in between if needed (exercise, cold weather, to try and stop an asthma attack). School routinely give him 2 puffs before gym and playtime. Brown inhaler is a low dose steroid he takes morning and night. It doesn’t help with an asthma attack but provides longer term benefit by reducing inflammation of airways. It’s a preventer. Purple is a mix of both. A higher steroid with some relieving properties. But again, he just takes that now in place of the brown, so morning and night. Another preventer. He also takes a montelukasat tablet daily to further reduce airway inflammation.
