Well, dd1 just spent the past 45 minutes screaming about god knows what so this is a fabulous start to the quarantine. Thank god they’re both in bed now. I’m on my second glass of wine and decided I’m keeping a tally chart of how many glasses I drink before we go back to school. 🍷

Also I had to bribe the boys with a toy each to get them to sleep in a bed I don’t care which without me. Last night I slept on a mattress on the floor it was pure bliss.

DD1 kept crying and saying she didn't want to be homeschooled when we told the kids the news. So this is going to go great.

We got an email from our pastor tonight informing us that an elderly parishioner with significant underlying health concerns passed away and they have confirmed she had Covid-19. This already all felt so real to me, but this is like slapping me in the face. It's very close to home. I am keeping myself away from the news as much as I can this weekend to try and calm down.

I remember being devastated when I had to miss first grade for a week when I had chicken pox. School was way more fun than home.

Our governor has mandated all schools close on Wednesday until April 6th. We are starting seeds, making syrup, and taking care of all of the outdoor spring chores, so I think we'll stay entertained. I hope. Why starting Wednesday? Seems random.

I hope. Why starting Wednesday? Seems random. He waited until Friday at 5PM to make the decision and announcement. Teachers did not have time to prepare or send anything home with kids. We had gotten an email just an hour earlier that our district was planning to stay open, so I'm sure the teachers didn't know until 5 either.

I have a fb friend who’s now on the ground in Italy - military scientist specialized in infectious disease. Really interesting to read her updates. As crazy as it is to me that people here are confused as to whether or not they can leave their houses, she just posted that they are basically on lockdown there. She went out for a walk and was told she’s not allowed to.

Which I guess could be hard in really crowded neighborhoods, but otherwise ... What's the reasoning?

Total guess on my part would be not a health risk but being extra cautious as Americans to appear to be cooperating with Italian gov regulations.

My former office space had become my messy crafty space and now needs to become H’s office space. It’s also our throw everything that doesn’t have a place space, so part of our efforts to create a pleasant work environment is getting rid of two old twin boxsprings we will never need. This has now morphed into getting large, broken, unused things out of the basement - most of which came with the house, and removing a large pile of renovation debris from the garage. I don’t fully understand how we got here, but it’s nice to have that all gone after 7 years.

My mom and I just got in a fight over coronavirus armageddon. I said I stocked up on some non perishable foods without going overboard and would get some cash to keep in the house in just in case. I also declined her invite to do a family get together since we are supposed to be practicing social distancing. She said I was crazy, lecturing her and blowing it out of proportion. I then tried to explain the whole point in doing this is to slow down virus spread and not overwhelm health systems or our economy/food supply etc. Again I'm nuts...i got off the phone

I am just here trying to keep living my life as normally as possible. It is March break and my parents had already planned on visiting family with Peyton so she was off this morning all packed and insanely excited for her "vacation" lol. Then is off school for another 2 weeks and has work to do with my parents each day. I joined a second fitness challenge (I am now crazy) so have to go get groceries for that tomorrow morning and hope there is the food I want in the stores. I just doubled up my exercises from BBM and then relaxing for the day. P is coming to visit on Monday afternoon until Wednesday since he had travelled to Florida for work and now is working from home for a couple of weeks. Girl guides has been cancelled for now and I think ballet will be too which sucks as they have their recital in May they need to practice for. Really hoping this can start to level out soon and life can get better for everyone. I am so sorry to hear about one of your parishioners mrscheese

Dance is still on right now but only one parent is allowed to attend. Our library is closing after Tuesday. I'm going to try and get the kids over there to get some new books to read while we're stuck at home.

I'm still hoping our schools don't close but if they do I hope they make the call very soon. We're starting state testing for grades 3-8 next week (which the kids hate because the test sessions are really long) and it's going to really suck if some grades/classes get all their testing done next week and then schools close and testing gets canceled and the other classes/grades get out of testing.
Really the state should just cancel or postpone testing because attendance next week is probably going to be pretty poor (and really, it is probably reasonable for students with health problems or vulnerable relatives in their household to stay home) and schools get penalized if not enough students take the test. But that would be too logical.

I felt like a crazy person when I went to the store twice this week and bought some extra things on each trip. Now I’m seeing pictures of empty shelves and long lines locally and I’m so glad I was ahead of the curve on this! My Costco bag of pretzel crisps is low though, so I’ll have that hardship to overcome.

H stocked up yesterday, but it's our normal shopping day and had to substitute a bunch of our Normal brands out.

There were a couple of elderly shoppers at our store today who were very worried they missed the toilet paper. I just went for some milk and cake mixes (both M and DH have birthdays in the next few weeks). Everything was stocked except for toilet paper and clorox products. Bottled water was low too. Why toilet paper and bottled water though? Are they predicting water supplies or power to go out? I'm genuinely confused.

I did all my grocery shopping at Walmart because my normal Aldi was bare and bought a bunch of stuff that's not in my usual repertoire. Basically whatever was available still and reasonable. But I figure things like baking bread, making our own granola bars etc will keep us busy.
