There was a press conference Friday stating that our schools would stay open. Just got the call that they are closed until further notice. So no plan in place, no work sent home. They might be making teachers go in the next couple days to make plans/assemble work (to mail? Send out via the buses? Who knows...). That's what we now have to do - they finally announced today school closed for 2 weeks (at least) but all staff have to go in at least M and T - first, maybe only - project is to assemble work for students. Can't bring our own kids with us, so scramble to find care for school age ones. Argh. Ds can still go to daycare but dd's is in her school so is closed. I'm sure they will do something in the coming days, but my sister is a teacher and SIL is a parapro and they found out the same time we all did.

Yeah we only got the message when it went out to parents too. Actually one principal did send a msg early this morning saying when the admin team would be meeting. But then no news other than that there wouldn't be testing this week; it was 2.5 hours past the meeting time before the closure msg went out.

It’s funny, this afternoon the Mayor of Boston told restaurants they had to remove half their tables and chairs to keep operating at 50% capacity. WTF is the point of that. A couple hours later the Governor shut down all schools and restaurants allowing take out/delivery only.

Two major things happened Cases sent to the hospital went up by I think 40 within a couple hours and at a major hospital a resident had tested positive for coronovirus

This was my parents at first. They quickly got their butts in gear when people started dying and infection rates were doubling. My mom is 75. I'm more worried about my mom than she is. She's only 60, but she has a heart condition. She at least is cancelling activities. I think it's not as real for them yet, because we haven't had any cases near us. That's changing though, as it's finally moving out of Chicago in IL. My dad and stepmother (in their 70s) are in their first week of a 3ish week cross country trip. They're in CA now. As of yesterday they still seemed very not worried. They went out by train which I guess is better than plane, and part of the time in CA they're renting a car, but still - theure about to visit my aunt and uncle who are in their 80s and the uncle has had lots of heart problems. Seems like a bad idea. I'm not quite sure how - like what made the difference - but I've gone from hoping schools didn't close to #juststayhome (or outdoors away from other people) pretty drastically in the last 36 hours - I wonder if it will hit them like that soon too. Though not quite sure how they would best adjust their plans. My dad said he had checked in with his pcp before they left and bern reassured he was at low risk for serious illness because healthy. He is healthy now, but had 2 sections (out of 5) removed due to cancer (about 20 years ago, but still), so seems to me he would be quite vulnerable due to that reduced lung capacity. Whatever; not much to do now but cross my fingers... For him and also that they don't bring the virus to my uncle.

There are plentiful rumors floating around of a nationwide quarantine ala Italy coming in the next couple of days. It's making me sick just thinking about it. I mean, we were already not going anywhere. IDK. The scope of this is terrifying. I have a doctor's appointment coming up next week and I'm sure I'll have to reschedule.

Not much will change in our schedule, even with a quarantine, but M & H fought all weekend. Mediating that will be fun for the next couple of weeks. We still have 2 feet of snow on the ground and a lot of mud, so we are a little stir crazy.

Gov announced that all restuarants and bars will close except for carry out and delivery starting tomorrow. No gatherings of over 50 people for at least 8 weeks. Grocery stores and pharmacies will remain open but have capacity limits and other things the health dept says they must do.
I'm going to go grocery shopping tonight and see what I can find.

My mom, sister, BIL and nephew are supposed to drive from MN to AZ to see my aunt starting on Friday. As of this afternoon when I talked to my mom about hotel rooms they were still planning on going. Obviously that will change if EVERYTHING goes on lockdown.

I just applied for a job, and I'm pretty sure I'll get it. It's for a part time bus monitor for our local Headstart program. It goes from mid May to early Oct. The manager is an old coworker of mine, and the job is riding the bus and installing/uninstalling carseats and making sure the kids are riding safely. I think I'm qualified for that. One of the qualifications is that I take a 3 hour Children And Restraint Systems. It's a basic version of the CPST training class that I teach. I'm hoping that I can just get a waiver from state saying that I don't have to take the course since I teach a 30 hour version of it. If not, I'm going to try and take one offered by one of the instructors that I teach with.

Grocery store was a success. I’m shocked. No bread but randomly one rogue loaf was there with some English muffins and it was the bread we normally get. Score! No TP, no cleaning products and no hand sanitizer. I ended up with ground chicken instead of ground turkey but that’s totally fine. I bought extra coffee, too, because mamas consumption is about to go up 😂

I took DS to DC this morning. There were still plenty of kids there but his teacher said he's the only school age kid. Over the weekend 10 kids were called out. It's only a matter of time before the state tells them to close so I'm going to take advantage of it while I can. DS is already being a brat so it's going to be a long few weeks.

Every time you think about going out and living your normal life remember 2 people on this board are pregnant and in a couple of months will need doctors to deliver our babies and take care of us. In Italy women who need c sections cannot get them bc the doctors need to take care of the seriously ill. Also remember our parents have cancer and still need to go to treatment. I mean this pregnancy is going so well and I haven’t had any issues (unlike my last where my appendix ruptured and I had a post partum hemorrhage which triggered a panic attack). I read in China they were separating newborns from their mothers for 14 days. That made my head about pop off. 🤯 I really really really just want a normal experience, I just want normal period.

So Boris is about to get a hard punch in the face from me.
Schools still open and business as usual in the hope we all get coronavirus and generate herd immunity...(I’m not making this shit up btw)
Now he’s cancelled any testing!!! Unless you are hospitalised with symptoms, testing is prohibited.
So that’s good. 😫

Our school is sending home 10 library books with each student today. H's backpack is going to tip him over. 😂 I also got a message that the school is setting up pick up locations for homework assignments. It's not clear whether we have to pick up and turn work in daily, weekly, or what. 5th grade and older is completely set up online, so I wonder if they are expecting to be closed beyond April 6th.
Michigan restaurants and bars have closed and I'm sure Wisconsin is next. Takeout is allowed, so even though we have plenty of food we might do that for some of our favorite restaurants so this doesn't hurt their business so bad. Takeout seems safe, right?

DH cancelled a non essential doctor appointment for today and they are still going to charge him because he didn't give 24 hours notice. I would think in light of everything they'd be thrilling he was rescheduling.
