Catholic Church for Scotland has closed down.
I get it, but I’m so so sad.
Easter is my favourite part of the year and I can’t even imagine no church over lent and Easter.
To make it worse, I failed in giving up alcohol for lent - I had a gin and tonic with my tea. I just really wanted one 😢.

And I totally failed at Lent too. It's okay. We're doing Lent a little differently this year. Giving up normal life pretty much.

Shit forgot about Easter. Thankfully we are done and everything is here for T’s birthday next week. My work isn’t looking great right now and I am afraid there will be lay offs and I won’t have a job soon. 😔 Fx for you that your job will be ok or just a temporary furlough at worst (hopefully covered by govt aid?)!! When is Easter this year? I got chocolate bunnies a while ago and a bit of other candy and I'm resisting Easter as a lots of gifts holiday so hopefully will be ok. Have saved eggs, etc from past years to use again. But it will be a bummer to not have the community Easter egg hunts to go to. Oh well.

Dd came across a new show on YouTube yesterday (it came up after the exercise while counting to 100 videos we were doing starting with the one her teacher assigned) called numberjacks and is in love with it. It actually seems pretty good. (Problem solving focus) Weird, but good. Check it out if you need something different. If it turns out to have sinister cult messages or something embedded please tell me because one is not pay attention nearly as closely as I usually do when letting her watch something new! Is it bbc numberjacks with very strange baddies in it...that sabotage things and the numbers need to solve the problems? That show was out when DD1 was little and she loved it. But it’s the weirdest show ha ha. I think so. They have vaguely british accents. And there was a disembodied head of a kinda nerdy looking guy "the puzzler" who talked in riddle rhymes and seemed to be the bad guy. The numbers are the protagonists

CT is mandating shelter in place as of Monday evening. DH has a letter from his job that he is critical but I think that's crap. I'm not sure if they are considering DCs critical. They are considering liquor stores critical though.

They are considering liquor stores critical though. We have a "stay at home" order starting tomorrow. I think daycares here are open only for essential employees who aren't wfh. I'd look into the CT guidelines and see what they say.

Had a bit better day at work, we all had a staff meeting at coffee break and they said they are just going to keep being open until the government mandates that all places must close. They don't want anyone to feel that their jobs are not safe and we implemented different procedures to put in place for now. Doors are locked to the public, customers drop off keys in our dropbox and I disinfect them right away, and payments are made by e-transfer or credit card over the phone. We won't take any appointments if the customer has been out of the country or travelling at all.
This has worked well today so if we can just stay the course then we can hang on until we get a handle on this virus with less cases. I do have to take one day a week off without pay but I guess a small price to pay for having a job.

Illinois is putting a shelter in place order, which has caused more people to come north. Our county put out a notice asking non-permanent residents to stay in their hometowns, but it's too late. Explains why the grocery store was so busy today. Our healthcare system is so small up here and there will not be room if cases start popping up.

That is exactly what they are seeing happen here today too. We are a huge cottage county and they are seeing tons of people come up to spend their isolation up here. Except we are tiny towns with small grocery stores that are already being hoarded. We will not be able to have enough with these people and guarantee they bring new cases here from the city too.

Honestly, I know it’s easier to send him but keeping him home is the best thing you can do right now. Everyone needs to limit exposure. I saw something the other day that resonated with me.... don’t change your behavior to save yourself from being infected. Assume you’re infected and change your behavior to avoid giving it to others. We all have to do what’s best for the most vulnerable among us and that is staying home as much as possible.

Finally got the okay to work from home yesterday. Luckily G's schoolwork isn't mandatory so we can do stuff at our own pace. Today was a little harder since I think DH kept forgetting I was actually working. Our office is still open so I have asked for Fridays to be my day to go in and cover. That will give me a little bit of sanity each week.

It's basically the opposite of what our governor is trying to achieve. I understand that wasn't the intent. I also understand wanting to be somewhere where no cases have been found. Unfortunately people can't keep traveling without eventually spreading Covid-19. With our elderly population it is even more dangerous here. The average age in our county is 55.

They are building a field hospital on a soccer field north of us. It’s really really real now. My anxiety is bad right now. My whole body is tense.
Dh is still working and is considered essential for now. That could change if the gov decides to mandate shelter in place. He works in a cemetery and they are now doing deliveries only (funeral home delivers bodies to cemetery) which means that no family is present for burial. It’s done by the groundskeepers with the prayers and rite done by dh and his coworker. It’s emotionally taxing for him. They had three families arrange burials next week for people who died of Covid19 and have done a few already this week. We did find out that he will be paid his commission rate based on last years earnings if he doesn’t work, so that is at least a little relief.

Well, my virtual happy hour with friends backfired. All they were talking about is everything that’s going on and just giving me more and more anxiety. I literally just hung up from our Skype call without even saying goodbye and not one person reached out after to see where I went. I barely slept at all.

I keep seeing posts on the local families FB group saying that at least their houses have never been so cleaned and organized. How? Ours is getting messier by the day and I haven’t figured out how to fit in tiddiying, let alone cleaning, while taking care of the girls 24/7. I need nap time to come back! I don’t know how you guise are doing this AND working from home. You’re all amazing 🤩🧡

Yeah it's hard because no one is doing anything right now that isn't somehow related to the virus. So of course it's all you can talk about, but at these same time IT'S ALL YOU Talk about!. Hang in there I had a sleepless night a few nights ago but am feeling better now. I'm trying to just take it day by day and not over run my mind with what ifs...scenarios
