Hi Ladies! I’m catching up as I can. My conference where I was presenting was canceled on Friday (conference was scheduled for this week). I am bummed but also relieved. I was really excited to present, but I’ve also never left ds3 and he is still nursing, and I’m worried about the virus like everyone else. It’s all around now. I know there are patients with it at many local hospitals. I’m more worried about protecting my parents. We are going home to get ds2 and ds3 baptized Friday-Monday. I’m looking forward to the trip. We are driving so I’m not so worried (I’d be more worried going through the airport). Yeah everything I’m reading is that the deaths are 60-70 year olds, including many in the same nursing home.

We spent the weekend at my parents house. My mom is completely panicked about corona. She made several remarks about it being fatal for people over 60 and the limited time she has left. Instead of taking care of herself (she has uncontrolled diabetes), she has just decided this will be what kills her. So dramatic.
H woke up with a stomach bug and fever. I've got what seems like a sinus and ear infection. We just can't get healthy around here. I'm ready for spring and fresh air!

Our sump pumps are already working to get all the water from melting snow away from the house. Its a good thing, but one of them is located right under where our bed is, and comea out of the house just outside where my head is when im in bed. It runs about every 40min all night long. White noise machine? We had a fan that we bought 6 years ago that crapped out on us this past fall. I think getting a new one of those to run will help a lot.

Popping in for some advice. I'm taking J out of school this Friday for a Great Wolf Lodge trip. She has only missed one day the entire year so I don't think it's a big deal. But what should I tell her teacher? For Disney, I told them the truth ahead of time. I got a letter from the principal but whatever...

DD2 insisted she was tired and now that I need her to rest before school she won't stay in her room. Oh the joys of parenthood. Sorry you're dealing with it too.

So far my kids seem to be unaffected by DST. I'm sure that will come next week after I've adapted. I meant to strip the beds and start that laundry while Dd2 was at preschool. Instead I napped on the couch. I talked with Dh and he slept like crap last night too and agreed we need fan in our room. Amazon will get one here on Thursday. I"m going try and do as much of my normal day without my brace and see how it goes. I'm still getting some soreness in the evenings so I may need to make another appointment and get some PT done. If I go that route, I'm going to make sure and it pre approved by my insurance before starting.

My kids school is shut down for tomorrow due to the virus. Doesn’t make sense but they shut down the whole county’s school system due to one infected employee.

This doesn’t make any sense to me when the flu kills people every year and schools don’t shut down until a large % are absent and yet one person can shut down a district with this virus.

I talked to a mom at school today who works at a hospital. She was saying it’s scary because you have the option to vaccinate for flu and they can give tamiflu. With this they don’t even really know how to treat it. They don’t really want people coming in with it, but they get several a day who think they have it - so far lots of flu and pneumonia. Which of course they also don’t want the average flu patient bringing it into to hospital. I agree though shutting down the district seems extreme. Unless you can trace that this person had contact with x number of teachers and administrators who should now self quarantine to the level that you can’t staff the school. That seems unlikely though.

Our school is having an emergency early dismissal on Thursday to determine if they can and to what extent utilize Google classroom should schools close. So far there are 2 out of state doctors who work in state who have been diagnosed and one resident, none in our area. I think they are jumping the gun but I guess it's good to be prepared.

I just googled. This affects 94,000 students. Also now that the county has closed schools daycare has said that siblings of those kids cannot come to daycare. I’m so annoyed. I hope the teacher who went to school so sick they had to call 911 gets the help he needs. I’m also a little upset with him.

They said the teacher worked at several schools and then teachers at those schools worked at other schools so they closed all schools to assess and clean. That makes sense to me but is a major pain in the butt. Also, I’m assuming it was your district because it said it was in your state and I can’t imagine that there are multiple district closures there just yet.

A neighboring district is closed tomorrow because a staff member is being tested. This is beyond an abundance of caution.
H’s company is encouraging everyone to work from home as much as possible for 90 days and no gatherings over 20 people. It’s mind boggling.

Panic stricken evening for us...
DD2 woke up struggling to breathe, a horrid cough and wheezing loudly.
She had been fine all day so this was totally unexpected.
I called out of hours for advice and they were more concerned she hadn’t had a pee since the morning (I felt awful that I hadn’t noticed, especially as she is due a urology scan for ongoing issues).
So we were sent straight to hospital...I was panicking thinking she had the dreaded coronavirus.
She has croup...phew.
But now we are home - on reflection, I’m fucked off because the reason we were sent to hospital is because DD2 hadn’t done a pee for over 12 hours...they didn’t even test her for a UTI, try to get her to pee or drink anything or be one bit bothered.
Plus DH is away so I had to pile all 3 kids into my car in the middle of the night. I’m keeping them off school in the morning as they are exhausted.

A lot of districts near me are closing for a “snow day” or having a half day for staff to prepare plans for up to 14 days (10 school days). We had a meeting after school and were told that we would close if directed to do so by the governor or health department but that in most cases the building would be open for staff to come in or families that get free/reduced lunch to get food. They’re still working out how kids with special services would continue getting those (OT, PT, etc). This is bananas.

lulu, croup is super scary. DD2 has had it a couple of times, and one night I sat up with her until like 2 am because she was having difficulty breathing and wanted me. I actually ended up hospitalized for it when I was little. I hope she feels better soon, and that she doesn't have a UTI

Hopefully it’s just that one day. Some of the schools that have closed in other parts of the country have to be closed for several days to do the full cleaning. I wonder if they'll be able to get everything taken care of in 1 day. Sorry you're being affected activebaby.
