I really wish I could just have a day alone.... I completely feel this Meeee tooooo. We are at the in-laws, for over a week now. I so appreciate everything we have here and being able to swim, and the kids are super happy playing with cousins. It’s great, really. But my bil had to go home to work this week and sil and the kids will be here, and I was a little jealous that he gets to just go be home alone.

I really wish I could just have a day alone.... Amen. I am doing this today. I took the day off and am sending DS to DC. My big plans are going to kickboxing and getting a pedicure.

Good luck with the potty training meggypoo1 In my experience boys are stubborn about pooping. We started potty training a year ago; pee was easy but the poo holding has just recently gotten better and we still have the occasional argument about it. My 4 year old nephew is also incredibly stubborn about it. I think we’ll soon be in the diaper free club. DS is still in a crib at home, but here where he’s been able to get up at night, he’s staying dry. Probably time to give him his freedom when we get home,

I am bribing and he doesn’t care about that either. I just don’t want him to get constipated from not going or just go when he is in a diaper at nap time / bedtime. And C night trained herself like 2 months after she was solidly trained. I am hoping for the same, lol. I am also hoping that our move in 3 weeks doesn’t fuck me with this. I just didn’t want to keep waiting. I want that diaper free world!!!!

@catitude how’s it going? The baby is wonderful, the kids are going to summer camp. She is so much fun for me- I love dressing her and watching her- I love babies. She sleeps good still for a baby and only eats like every 3 hours- my boys are 1.5 hours and I never could get anything done. I find myself waiting for her to wake up a lot! One of the boys already got strep at daycare - fingers crossed no one else has gotten it yet after a week on antibiotics. So far I’m able to keep the cats, the kids, and the guinea pig fed and alive! It doesn’t feel crazy yet. I think not having school and sleeping in after 8 every day with all the kids really helps. No one wants to get up, so different than our old schedule before quarantine. The kids are also having much better behavior being out of the house and going to summer camp. My Adhd kid is like a new person- he is so much better.

How is it that simultaneously these days drag on and on and I'm saying "holy crap how is it 4 pm already?!" because there's so many things I still need to get done.

We just got a survey from my district asking our opinion about the 2 “different” plans for September. One is group A goes to school mon & tues, everyone home wed, group B goes to school Thursday & Friday. Option 2 is group A on mon/thurs and group B on Tuesday/Friday. So it looks like I need to figure out wtf to do with my kids 4 days a week. Awesome. I’m so fucking stressed and I am not even letting myself think about in person & virtual teaching at the same time. I’m going to go throw up now.

Ha such a weird times we are in. I literally forgot my 12 year wedding anniversary is this Sunday. Just realized it by looking at calendar for something else. I asked DH and he completely forgot too😒

I really wish I could just have a day alone.... I told DH I need a sister wife or something. It's so hot so we're in the house a lot more now than when all this started. Plus, work has picked up for me since a few people have left. I try not to run and hide every day when DH gets home, but some days I just can't help it.

We were eventually given Thursday and Friday for all three of my kids. I cried a lot, made plans, cancelled a bunch of stuff and got really stressed about it. Then two days after the announcement, the government did a huge u-turn and declared schools back full time from August 😳. I can’t imagine teaching on top of that too so you really have my sympathy.

Ds had a COVID exposure from one of the kids in his camp class, so I’m at home with him for his quarantine. My boss said I had to have approval from the COVID line to come back. I was on the phone with them 55 minutes on hold last night before I got hung up on. I called back and they were closed. My little two are allowed back. (I just got off the covid line and I can come back to work) I think this is just the new normal. Scary normal. I see more quarantines in the future ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)

Add me to the list of never ending home repairs. Since we’ve been quarantining at the lake house we’ve had the fridge breakdown, dishwasher, toilet and basement leaks, new water heater, sprinkler repair, we had to demo our garage stairs and door which was a giant mouse palace, and we’ve order 5 new windows to replace the most rotten ones at the front of the house. We’re already $17k in house repairs . Good news is I don’t think there’s anything else left that hasn’t broken yet!

Just to reduce the class size? Mom/tues & thurs/fri at least makes a little sense to deep clean between groups. The other way doesn’t seem like it’s limiting exposure, especially if kids have to have some other form of group care on the 3 out of school days.

The thought of our custodial staff deep cleaning anything is laughable but I think the thought behind mon/thurs was not having them home for big stretches of days between each “in school” day? 🤷🏼♀️

Our school is going back 5 days a week. How will they deal with exposure and quarantines when someone tests positive? I'm sure it is going to be a constant switch between virtual and in class, different depending on the day/week and whether a child or teacher has been exposed. I understand it is an impossible situation, but between all of the unknowns, having a kid with anxiety, and having 2 high risk kids I'm leaning towards homeschool. I know it's an unpopular opinion but I have a hard time seeing public school working for our family this year.

Is your district offering remote learning at all or are you going to unenroll them and find your own curriculum?

So far they have not given the option for remote learning, so we would need to pick our own curriculum and file a form with the state to homeschool by Oct 15th. I've looked at a few curriculums and it seems like some are backordered for a few weeks. We probably need to decide soon.

Anyway while im not normally a fan of homeschooling in general (or more specifically the reasons/motivations why some people choose to do it and i have no desire to homeschool my kid!) this year is a very different situation that changes the equation a lot. Especially since it seems like school will be very different. I mean, if everyone is flipping out trying to keep little kids 6 feet apart that kinda kills a lot of the usual arguments for why its good for kids to be in school! Also (and I absolutely don't mean this as a slight against anyone else in our group), I have the impression you're one of the best homeschool-teacher candidates among us!

My pedi said she got guidance saying they will shut down classrooms but generally not the whole school or the whole state, etc... no more full shut downs.

I don't think I would be serious about homeschooling in a normal year, but this is just so different. It is my understanding that in Wisconsin we are only required to submit a form to declare we will homeschool and meet the yearly hour requirement. Any curriculum or even unschooling is allowed and materials do not need to be provided as proof to anyone. You do need a schedule or a record of hours if the state asks. If we go the homeschool route we will pick curriculum for each subject.
