I got the umbrella up. It wasn't actually that bad. I need to get a chunk of wood or something to space out the bottom instead of a squished cider jug, and I'm not sure the metal hardware that I was trying will actiall be better than zip ties so might change that part, but otherwise ... I think will look only kinda half-assed not horrible and will be ok? What would those of you good at this stuff suggest? I need to get a second one for the other corner, though - I misestimated sun angle and this will help with morning but does nothing for afternoon sun. So the shepherds hook for plants has to go along the edge not in the corner - will work alright. The size was more manageable than i thought - this is 7.5' but I probably could manage a 9.'. So ... Do I get a matching one for the other corner (I don't love this pattern but it's all that was left, and outdoors it's actually not bad - pretty neutral - and it was marked down to $35). Or if ocean state job lot actually has any of the 9' ones in their weekly flyer should I get one of those? No idea what other color; hopefully a solid but they might only have stripes. But they have tilt (according to flyer but its job jot so might not be accurate); this one does not. ![](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200712/8f902d05775b7986407d8de34f0ad84b.jpg) ![](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200712/fdda3aeea38cc70c1063489eac1f1d98.jpg)

We got quotes for our front and back yard for pavers. They are small spaces. I would bet that some of your master bedrooms are bigger than the spaces we’re talking about. $26,000 😳. Lol no. So, we had a friend of my dads come out who does cement and he gave us some options with stamps and whatnot. Waiting for the bid but I’m guessing it’s way less than $26k. We just had a cement guy come out for our stairs; out of curiosity I asked him about the patio. He said stamped concrete would be around $18-20 per sqft.. That includes removing our old pavers.

springbeduk can you get a closer pic of the hardware you used to attach it to the deck? Probably later. Mainly it's lashed to the railing (red rope) and then two spots with zip ties lower. The hardware is stuff meant for holding electrical conduit that I got just to experiment with.

I asked him to give us the stamped bid and just regular old cement. Plus he’s friends with my dad so I’m hoping that helps. 🤞🏻

Fuuuuuccckkk!! My house alarm just went off - full bhuna sirens.
I fucking shat myself. It was a false alarm and I reset it.
Guess what...kids and dog slept through the whole thing 😳

We are really leaning in to this new strange world.. I let Mr. Cheese cut my hair tonight. He watched a YouTube tutorial twice and then did it. It’s seriously not bad at all. I like the layers he did around my face. Tomorrow he’s going to color it for me, just semi permanent because I like being able to wash it out if it’s not a good color. He’s done that a time or two since March. Like I said... leanin’ in to this pandemic life for the Cheese Family 😂

What set it off?! I have no idea. We often get power cuts but when that happens it’s just warning beeps, never the siren. I was hoping someone had snuck in to steal my dog, but no such luck.

New flooring is happening. And apparently when you buy chalk line thi Gus at menards they dont come already filled with chalk. You have to buy it seperately. ![](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200713/f6d611bcbfd872be19fcaa70fe6fca83.jpg)

I am so annoyed, I am on vacation from work this week and so bored already. There is just nothing fun to go and do and the weather has been cloudy and cooler and gloomy for 3 days now. We have had fantastic hot weather for a week and a half and it just HAD to change right now 🙄
We went to the mall on Saturday and Home Depot to get some more paint I needed for my patio, but so awful. So many stores have closed that this mall will never be able to stay open much longer. Playgrounds are still closed, movie theatres, too cool or rainy for restaurant patio. We already had movie day yesterday so wish I had fun ideas for something not involving the inside of my stupid house lol

It’s typical that the weather would take a turn for the worse just as you come off work. Do you have a tent? You could camp outside...even if the weather isn’t great, it’s still fun. I did it with my kids at the height of lockdown and through the day pretended we were at a music festival. They did songs and pretend instruments and did a show. I made picnics and we watched movies and ate tea inside the tent. They played with the tent in different forms for about two weeks and DS slept overnight in it. Even if you don’t have one, you get cheap ones on amazon or just a pop up tent.

That stinks that the weather turned blah right when you have a vacation week footloose! Sorry. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) With the damp weather is it too buggy outside? If not and not actually raining, go crazy with sidewalk chalk? I forget what the siding of your house is if chalk would be ok on it too and just wash off later? Fairy house village? Is there anywhere you're allowed to go ride bikes? That's good for cooler days as long as not actually raining . or a nature trail/short hike? Fire pit? Or small campfire in a charcoal grill and roast marshmallows? I dunno, really ... We don't do anything exciting. Or baking ... But that's inside. But reminded me I wanted to ask you what the green muffins you posted about making (ages ago) are called so I can look them up, or if you remember what site had the recipe?

Even if you don’t have one, you get cheap ones on amazon or just a pop up tent. No tent, and with my scoliosis tenting is very painful for my back. Amazon is taking like nearly 2 weeks to ship regardless. Our stores are fairly empty as they only restock absolute essentials. This whole thing is just very frustrating. I just had my shower and had a big cry. I have been growing more and more depressed the last couple of weeks. I feel very forlorn. So tired of being lonely and no boyfriend. No real friends up here. I just miss someone who loves me. Makes me feel like loser that I can never find a boyfriend as there must be something wrong with me. I have been trying to hold on that things will get better but it's not and Covid won't go away anytime soon and it has already changed things so much so that now people seem content to do more online and I am the opposite. I have been dealing with a ton of IBS and now trying to eat Low Fodmap and is very hard and am losing my motivation to work out as much 😔

I don't have a sidewalk lol, but it keeps raining on and off and had absolute torrential downpour most of the day on Saturday. There is also another fire ban on right now. I am just super annoyed. I do bake but I already do that and with my stomach issues now need to try brown rice flour and pretty hard to find around here.

footloose a fire ban too? Even after the rain? And IBS acting up. You just can't catch a break! (Or some fun). ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) I'm sorry. Karakoe? Dress P (or both of you) up and shoot tour own music videos? Do you mainly dislike video chat things or are limited by data usage and/or bandwidth? It's not the same as seeing people live but it's still something ... Definitely helps keep me going. And now that dd has started having zoom playdates with her best friend from school she's really enjoying it too and it has cheered her up even though she wasn't so great with video stuff for school.

Ive done as much of the new flooring as i can until we rip up more carpet. My finger still have glue on them even after washing them twice, and my wrists are going to be killing me tomorrow. And I wasnt paying attention to what i was doing, and put one of the tiles with the wood grain pattern going the wrong direction. It will be hidden by a table, so no one else will see it. The last pic is what the laundry room looked like when we toured the house almost 2 years ago. ![](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200713/4af1f133cfdf2374cb9071be4bc86343.jpg) ![](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200713/b899170c4a969d5bc50455c3f7b31fe0.jpg) ![](https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200713/019cdc6657c94cd11f9e1e0b3e1b2860.jpg)

springbeduk Do you have Pinterest on your phone? I forgot that is where my recipe for the muffins are and just wondered if you wanted to follow me and have access to those? So I cleaned up and had lunch (my dishwasher died so the constant dishes is driving me crazy!), fed my sourdough starter as i can have that and trying to get it going, then made an appointment to get a pedicure for us at 2:00 🙌 Finally something fun to do!

Thanks rainbowsockmonkey! I might try the hose clamps especially if this setup fails. Though the railing is kinda old already which makes me more nervous about drilling into it in case it splinters/splits which will be a bigger landlord problem than just screw holes would. But i might have to. I don't really want to have to do bucket of cement (space, plus will have to dump it after rain or get mosquitoes breeding, plus heavy) but again, I might have to .... Will see. That's a clever setup for holding mason jars to hold pens and stuff!

footloose this is such a hard situation. I know me saying I’m in a similar situation doesn’t really help, but I totally get how you feel and how miserable lockdown is. Our rules seem similar to yours in strictness and I’m here everyday by myself with just the kids for company and Scottish weather. It was hideous when DS was shielding as at first we weren’t even allowed out for exercise. All we had was the garden. Thankfully this week, his shielding was lifted and he can go out now to the park or into the fields. Honestly, that’s what we do everyday as there’s nothing else we can do. We walk in the pissing rain just to be out of the house - I can’t bear being stuck in any longer than necessary. There’s only so much baking, colouring in and playing with toys I can take before I crumple, so I just have to force myself out. Even sometimes getting in the car and going for a drive breaks up the day. At first, we were restricted to 5 miles but now that’s opened up too. I just drive and drive and drive until I find somewhere nice. We get out and explore and take a packed lunch which we eat in the car if it’s raining. It’s probably shit for the kids (but to be fair, they never complain), but it means I can drive in peace, zone out for a bit and get a change of scene.

Hi Everyone! COVID is so bad around here. I know so many people with it now. A lot of healthcare workers. I can’t remember if I mentioned it but DS is quarantines at home because a kid in his class was positive - tomorrow is the last day of his quarantine! I am not sure if H was just exposed- he was with someone all day for a few days who he sent home and told them to test. They were positive, but they both had masks on at all times. He is not being asked to be quarantined. My peer is really sick with it and her best friend just died from it. It’s everywhere I turn. I’m just doing minimal (grocery store), and I do go to the pool but we are distanced (reservations), and work. We wear masks everywhere. I’m worried about school starting - I plan to send ds, but that might not be the case if things keep going up. I also don’t know if afterschool will be a thing. I just started talking to my boss about that today. Otherwise, we are healthy for now. Ds2 turned 4 last week and ds3 is 19 months!

footloose loneliness I think is one of the worst emotions to deal with. It’s gut wrenching and I’m so sorry you are experiencing it. You certainly aren’t a loser for not having a boyfriend. You aren’t a loser full stop. You are an amazing mum and cope with everything so so well. Better than most people that’s for sure and definitely better than you give yourself credit for.
