My kids start school on Thursday, so of course today was the day I decided to throw all their new clothes into the wash. Simon was down sleeping in his new favorite spot on the washer, and I noticed he had some gunk in his eye. Wiped it away with a Kleenex, and it was blood (some dried and some not). I called the vet and they asked me to send pictures of the Kleenex and his eye in, so I did that and am just waiting to hear back. I took him in last week for a re-check that eye and because his other one was starting to get gunky. We are going to put him on a different eye med than what he is currently on, but they didn't have any in stock, and it still isn't in. They have another eye medicine that should work, so I'm going to go in tomorrow after meet the teacher conferences and get whatever ed they have there.

It took 2 days of school for there to be a positive COVID case in DS's class.

I've about had it with H. He's really whiny about being tired and wanting help with stuff around the house. Meanwhile, I have Covid. When I mentioned needing time to rest and whatnot, he was all "you're so capable, I never even thought you might need help."
Thanks for listening to my rant. DD2 is back to school today, but he let DD1 stay home with a headache (she's still negative) so I still have no time to myself for just being sick.

Well I'm glad he acknowledged but is he going to help then? I had covid like 2 and half weeks ago. I needed rest and made DH take off two days...Even fully vaxed, boosted etc I definitely needed extra sleep for a say or two.

He's at work today so that he can 1. get PCR tested at work, since it's almost impossible to get a PCR test around here right now and he's still negative on rapids, and 2. it's his busiest day of the week so he doesn't like calling off then. My mom is helping by picking the kids up from school and will take them to soccer practice for me tomorrow. IDK. I may ask him to call off tomorrow or Thursday if I'm not getting any better. Thankfully DD1 is self sufficient enough that she can take care of herself when she's home "sick". I'm hiding in my room right now and leaving the girls to their own devices.

We have been in school for 25 days. We have already taken pictures, are in the middle of 2 fundraisers, sent in a snack for G's whole class, sent in a $1 to wear a hat, sent in a $1 to buy a frosty. Now they are asking for items for care packages for deployed military members. I truly don't mind doing any of this and know I don't have to, but I wish there was the option of them giving us a number of how much a student can give to cover everything for the year and I will just write them a check. The constant asking is a lot.

It took 2 days of school for there to be a positive COVID case in DS's class. Sounds about right for these days. Did the school actually tell you or you just know from your kid and/or other parents? Dd's school was really good with notifications the last 2 years but isn't going to notify this year and refuses to include cdc guidance that known close contacts mask for 10 days and is fully back on the harangue about the importance of attending school, without including the reminders to stay home if sick. So, I'll be shocked if we make it more than 2 or 3 weeks before one of my kids gets it.

athena I hope your h steps up and also that you feel better soon! Feeling un-helped while sick is such an awful feeling - somehow more hurtful than lots of other slights.

I also was in the car with Dd, my friend and her two kids and we all sat close at a movie day before I tested positive. None of them got itđ€·ââïž It was also my very first tango with it even though I haven't masked in over a year, worked in a crowded cafe and cared for both DH and DD when they were sick. Who knows. I'm feeling fine except for lingering taste issues.

I had a couple of bad headache mornings last week, and Dd1 took care of getting breakfast for her and Dd2. She heated up the left over sloppy joes and made them both sandwiches, then they quietly watched tv or played on their tablets until I felt better and was able to make them lunch.

They also are very cautious about any sickness which I completely appreciate. And joy in an over reactive way, just a we see you, donât send your sick kids here without Covid testing and wearing a mask if theyâre coughing or snotty.

Lame. This is one of those benefits of private school. They are not beholden to a district or anything but have decided to keep doing it. Win for us.

The district live in/where my kids go is grudgingly keeping up their covid "dashboard" - a google sheet of case counts by school - but they are not encouraging families to report. Still, they're showing 5 student cases (this was day 7) so far at the smaller elementary school - maybe 200ish kids? Supposedly none so far at my kids' schools but of coursecthat won't last. They refuse to notify by classroom this year. The district where I work already last year dropped back to weekly notification letters - midday Friday (so useful - tell people on a Friday there's like 50 cases district-wide, many of them having been in school Monday and Tuesday đ) and I seriously doubt he'll even do that this year. Will see tomorrow. I have access to attendance info from all the schools, 3 of which code in a useful way (the building I'm mainly in does not; the principal and nurse are covid minimizers) and there's quite a few cases even given that most wouldn't report it. yuck yuck yuck.

Queen Elizabeth has died. Sad. but then again, 96, and seeming to be in pretty decent health, really, until just the last several months. Hard to ask for more than that. Quite a life!

Queen Elizabeth has died. Itâs sad. My SIL shared a document they have all been given to support their staff. It is called âThe Demise of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, National Mourning Guidelines.â They had everything prepared for the loss, but still sad. (SIL lives and works in England).

Also covid related - our counts are really high it seems. School sends out a lot of info - 19 cases already at our elementary school (in school 14 days now). So you know there are a ton more than that in reality. They recommend wearing masks, but itâs not required. We have had no notes of direct exposure but I have 2 kids there and they go to afterschool, so itâs just a matter of time. Work has now encouraged everyone to get the newest booster which it is providing. Iâd like to get it, but I donât know when I will. I feel like I need to have another planned downtime after it since Iâve gotten sick the last 2 doses I got.

It took a whopping 3 days of preK (with pre-covid, ok to send your kid unless fever or puking or covid+ health guidelines back and nobody masking) for ds to get sick đ ; home with him today. Seems to be a cold (or something else mild-ish; covid test was negative and no really concerning symptoms - at least not concerning as in covid-ish. Apparently having a cold brings back his night terrors (had some when he was 1 1/2-2) or sonething similar, so last night was pretty awful. I almost sent him to school - it's very borderline - but then his temperature went up (though just in the 99s so not technically a fever) and i hadn't heard back from his teacher yet - later she replied saying yes its back to old guidelines and there's a couple others in the class with a bit of a runny nose. I dontveven know what the right call is these days - I guess if everyone is sending kids when they have colds we might as well all do it; otherwise will just end up home way too many days? But still seems wrong.
Are you all sending or keeping kids, especially those younger than our M14s, with colds?
At least he is liking school so much that he was really sad to not go today, so that's good?

springbeduk Iâm sorry your son is sick. I have sent kids with colds to school. No fever, but runny nose. Daycare would be impossible otherwise. Since my kids are always in care (daycare, camp, school, afterschool) theyâve been exposed to a lot, so we havenât had any true sicknesses thankfully. No one is sick todayâŠbut I never know what tomorrow brings.

Anyone have a guess about why my cat is eating dirt (licking sand/dirt up off the driveway) when he sneaks outside?
(Other than that he's not the sharpest tool in the shed, which he definitely isn't) He's 13.
