1 day at school 3 kids in class have lice and ds2 has brought home RSV, we already had another virus that took me, my sister and ds1 before that we haven’t gotten rid of.🤯 Ds2 has been sick since Aug 6. We also got an email about lice going around too. Blech.

Our school is full of Covid. I’m hoping we have a little immunity left (we all had Covid in early May). 🤞🏻
I hope all the sick kiddos are on the mend very soon 💕

I'm nervous though, as they are saying they won't recommend it for everyone. I've been nervous about that too but the wash post article that just posted about fda approval sounded like they have sources who expect it to be recommended for all; that made me a little more hopeful. 🤞🤞 for tomorrow's news!

Made it through 5 days of a hool, and on day 6 Dd2 said she didn't feel well. Strep and at home covid are negative. Dh had a few hours of training this morning, so I was home with her then, and went to work when he finished. Dd2s temp was 103.3 whe. I got home, so Tylenol then. She just woke up and puked so now she's sleeping in the living room, and her temp is still 102.9. Gave her motrin. I told my bosses when I got to work today to plan that I wouldn't be in tomorrow.

Our school is doing a Covid and flu shot vaccine in early October 🙌🏼 I’m so happy I don’t have to wrangle kids at the doctors office for shots. Hallelujah!
I had a work event early wed morning then took the rest of the day off and went to the mariners matinee game. I’m also taking J to the game tomorrow night. I’ve never seen the Dodgers play before so I had to 😜.
In less great news, J has been struggling with his anxiety and food issues for a few months. I think I’m going to reach out to his therapists and see what they recommend. I’ve exhausted all the tools I have.

Happy new year luvboston! Is there any lore/tradition about implications of it being stormy on Rosh Hashanah?

People who had covid in your house somewhat recently (or have reports from people you know well who did) - what were you seeing for incubation periods/time from one family member getting it to another? I'm wondering if I can relax a bit or if dd and I are still virus time bombs. It's now 7 days since ds came down with it; hes pretty much all better (was only ever very mild) and went back to school madked on day 6, yesterday, per guidelines; as of this morning dd and I both still tested negative and felt ok. Dd had leg pain tonight but she gets growing pains so likely just that. I felt yesterday like it was coming on, but test this morning negative and I feel better now. But it's maddening knowing it still coukd strike at any time!
There was no way it was going to be possible to isolate ds so didn't even try and didn't mask in the house either as seemed futile/too late; have kept windows open and fans and 2 air purifiers running.

springbeduk I would think you're pretty safe. It took DH about 5 days to get it but that's the longest I've heard.

Hand have some blisters, but she does the monkey bars are school, and she has spots and blisters in her mouth. I called the nurse line to confirm her symptoms. Nurse said she should stay home till her blisters are dried up, which can take a week. I told dh that we may have to split being home on Wednesday and Thursday. He was NOT happy about that. My work is more flexible about me taking time off for sick kids, but he has sick pay that he NEVER uses, and we are going into a really busy time of the year where we do a lot of mailings, and are already down 1 person since my coworker is on maternity leave. We've never had it before. We are also supposed to go to my in-laws on Friday, and I'm supposed to work at a carseat check on Saturday. All of that is now tentative.

Thanks. We are keeping her home most if not all week from school. Dh has Monday, Tuesday and Friday off form work because of his schedule, and I'm taking Wednesday off and he will use sick time on Thursday. We are doing everything we can to keep anyone else from getting it, but I'm mentally preparing for Dd1 to be home with it next week. I also keep constantly checking my hands for bumps, even though I know the fever usually comes first.

There lice in Cots class though she has been ok so far, my mom tested positive for Covid today (I was with her last night and the kids see her everyday so I feel like it’s a ticking time bomb), dh leaves for a week on Sunday, a friend for devastating news about her daughter…. The list keeps going. I am mentally and physically exhausted. Like all of you, I’m sure. TGIF, I guess? Sending love to you all! rainbowsockmonkey we only had HFM when James was toddler. It wasn’t too bad but he did end up losing his toenails a few months after which was by far the worst part. Hopefully your dd doesn’t have that strain!

I don't mean this to trivialize or ignore the stress/exhaustion part of it all - its just that there's nothing to do for that really besides virtual hugs and good vibes and say, "I hear you!" - but for a practical thing for the covid part of the problems, 1. I hope your mom recovers quickly and completely (is she getting paxlovid?) - did she also get covid back when your household did semi-recently, or is this her first time? 2. Having just been in the ticking time bomb situation - there's a place called weshielddirect that has good tests (flowflex and ihealth) way cheaper than Amazon. 2 weeks ago it was 4 each for flowflex and 6 for a 2pack of ihealth (ihealth were 16 for 2 or 32 for 5 on amazon; ihealth were at least 7 each maybe 10). Shipping isn't free but it wasn't much especially spread out over a bunch of tests and mine came in just 2 days. I'm not sure if they have a west coast warehouse but maybe; otherwise yours might take longer but anyway they get sent out the door from them pronto. I hope you all will also not end up catching it between all your vaxxes and having had it not so long ago. But anyway the time bomb feeling sucks; sorry!

Also PSA for everyone - you can order 4 free covid tests from govt again starting Monday. 4 doesn't go very far in a family but at least it's something.
Other PSA don't forget that test expiration dates have been extended so most that you may still have around that say they are expired probably aren't. Don't throw them out without checking!
Covidtests.gov is the site to order tests and also has a link right in the light blue box at the top (on a phone view) to check updated exp dates of tests you may have

Also can I just say wtf with lice being back?!?? Nooooooooooo!
Why why why couldn't they just die out during the time of peak covid precautions??
Mostly the resilience of nature is wonderful and awe inspiring and all that, but ... it really does not need to extend to lice. They can just go away. Ugh.

My mom is ok. She has a bad cough but the fever is gone and the headache is gone. She thinks she’s on the upswing. She didn’t opt for paxlovid, though the doctor gave her an rx for it and left the choice to her. She said all the people she knows who took it had rebound cases and she felt she would be fine without it. So far, so good. My dad now is positive as well and his case is more severe. I don’t know if I shared here, but he had a major heart attack in June, but no heart damage and has been cleared completely by the docs. I’m not sure what he decided on paxlovid. I dropped off groceries to them today. So far, me and the kids are negative. I honestly think we may have some immunity left from our infection in May. 🤷🏼♀️ who knows. No lice so far either. 🤞🏻 it stays that way.

Well, I'm sick now.
Woke up yesterday with a scratchy throat that just got a little bit worse as the day went one, and added congestion in the evening. I took some Motrin and sided before bed, and slept ok. Woke up feeling worse than yesterday, but went into work. One of the bosses was out sick as well, and I stayed there for 3 hours before going home. I still managed to get all my work done, and we were DEAD so I felt ok to leave (the other boss also told me to leave so there's that). I slept off and on this afternoon and evening, and will be going to bed in a little over an hour after taking more Martin and Sudafed. Temp is currently 102.6, and I have body aches and chills/hot flashes in addition to the sore throat and stuffy face.
I'm sincerely hoping it just cold and not HFM.
