It's definitely a collective societal trauma. Good news though, is that there are rumors that the vax will be submitted for approval for the younger set next month, with approval likely in early March. I had not heard that yet. Yay!!

It's definitely a collective societal trauma. Good news though, is that there are rumors that the vax will be submitted for approval for the younger set next month, with approval likely in early March. Please please let that be true! No more teases/rug getting pulled out! I know I know it's science; it takes how long it takes and we want it done properly. But still ... Yesterday would not be soon enough!! Can we even make it til March without getting omicron? Or if not I guess at least the littles will have a chance at the super-immunity from vaccination after having had the illness. As long as they don't get mis-c along the way ....

It's -11 degrees (F). Very grateful to have a safe warm home. BUT I have to go by 9 to look at/test drive the car I'm probably going to buy (hybrid rav4) and it's going to be really hard to do that properly (and I already feel so uncomfortably rushed as it is)! Though really there aren't a lot of choices anyway so maybe it doesn't matter. I hadn't known there were hybrid siennas - so so tempting. But 10-15k more and that's just too much. The extra space of the minivan is so nice but really I don't need it that often; definitely not 10 or 15k worth of often!

Thinking about vaccines for the under 5 crowd… I’ve heard they might be ready by April. But omicron will be over by then and the summer is generally better. If the vaccine only lasts 6 months before you need a booster, I may wait until fall to vaccinate. Otherwise, what’s the point? They totally missed the window for getting these babies protected for the winter/ omicron.

DD2 has covid.
She came home from school yesterday and said she had a sore head, throat, arms and legs and sore tummy. But she seemed her usual self (nothing stops her) so I didn’t really bother.
I cuddled her when she was getting ready for bed and she was burning hot so I did a lateral flow and it was positive.
We are now all isolating until next Monday and she will miss her own birthday party poor thing.

lulu, poor girl! I hope the rest of you are able to stay negative and that she stays mild and feels better soon. What a crummy way to spend your birthday.

She’s totally fine - just hot and needing paracetamol regularly to keep her temp down. When we told her she was positive she wooped and shouted “this is my dream come true, I can stay off school” 😂. She’s living her best life.

Oh no. How come? Is it the weather? The connection the main line is at the end of the driveway and we think when they plowed this week they knocked the cover off so snow and ice got down rhe hole because the cover wasn't on when DH checked it. My brilliant suggestion was to pour hot water down the hole to melt whatever was frozen and it worked! It saved us several hundred dollars for the plumber and we are well stocked with bottled water! I'm sorry about DD2. She and DS have the same opinion about school!

You get long rambling stories from DD1 and DS. DD2 says the same everyday. Lunch and hometime 😂

That stinks she has covid, though. I hope the rest of you don't get it! And glad it doesn't seem to be bothering her much; hope it stays that way!

I got a new car!
Rav4 Hybrid.
Feels kinda unreal/anticlimactic though.
And my odyssey had no trade value so still have a project to get rid of it. Starting with I have to order a replacement title because of course I cant find the original ... Oh well.

I need to get dressed and go grocery shopping but it's winter so I don't want to. I'm so over being cold or warm but dried out inside. I need to move.

springbeduk yay for the new car! I’m not very car focused, so I get the anticlimactic feeing. I got my odyssey and I was so excited to get a car that fit my kids and was reliable, and for now my plan is to keep it until it costs more to upkeep than replace. I’m glad you have a new reliable car It’s cold her but no snow (yay! Don’t want snow.). We have outside baseball in 1 1/2 hrs and I am dreading it. It should be in the high 30’s but that’s too cold for me. Then we have basketball inside afterwards. This is our first indoor sports activity, so it feels a little wrong. However we are playing against 1 other team the whole season (so 5 or 6 games against the same 2 teams). We’ve played plenty of sports during covid, but always outside. Hopefully it’s a good decision. H worked last night and tonight, but he is going to get up so he can take Ds2 to basketball since I’ve got to leave with ds1 first and one ends at 330 and the other starts at 330 and they are not close. I felt bad to ask.

That's what a blur the whole thing was. I was the first one to even test drive it though. It only arrived at dealer Friday.

Oh and my car got stuck yesterday in the ice. Why did I buy front wheel drive. Do you have snow tires? I've always had front wheel drive (though the new car I just got is AWD) and been fine with it but tires make a huge difference!!

Do you have a long commute? I used to have a very long commute (60-70 miles each way) and it's still kinda long (about 30 each way) but the old car doesn't have so many miles really - 119K (had 26K when we bought it in mid 2018) - but it's a 2001!! That and transmission problems are why it has no value.

rainbowsockmonkey please help me decide whether to turn ds forward facing! He's 3 years 5 months and on the bigger side for his age. Is rear facing still safer or not really at this point? I don't think I turned dd til she was 4, but mostly just due to inertia/laziness. I think? Or maybe you said safer to wait? I can't even remember!

springbeduk congrats on the new car. Dh has a Rav4 not the hybrid version but we have been happy with it. It currently has 206, 000 miles in it (2016) with no issues. DH is trying to keep from looking right now with pandemic supply issues but is very intrested in the hybrid version for his next car. Please keep me updated on how you like it.

Does anyone have the baby jogger summit? Do you like it? We would be using it for the high weight limit not jogging.
