rainbowsockmonkey , Did you know the family whose house burned down in your town? That's my H's Aunt and Uncle. We are coming to your area tonight for a benefit. No i don't know them, but it happened just a couple of blocks away from our house. Funny that you will be in our town tonight though. Dh is adamant aboutbtaking thr girls bowling this evening, so we were going to be going to the place in your town this evening. The day after the fire in my current town, there was a house that caught fire in my old town. That was across the street and at the end of the same block from out old house. Woah, that's close to you in several ways!

My whole family is going camping this weekend for my mom's birthday. I just looked and it is supposed to be 90 degrees. I'm 33 weeks pregnant and the heat is killing me.

Another post… I left work early to go the dmv. I made it, waited in line, got called up. Got shut down. Turns out I needed to bring my marriage license (had a different last name on old NC license). I completely don’t understand this as my SSN and name match…. They told me I had to come back again. 🙄 what if I changed my name and didn’t get married? Would that be okay? I have a ton of reasons why I didn't change my name, but this is definitely one of them. I remember years ago getting my license renewed and this older lady was there and they kept telling her she needed her divorce paperwork and marriage license from the 60s to show when her name changed 🤯 she was probably too old to be driving anyway, but it was very ridiculous.

We went to a local-ish water park today (an hour away from us) because the kids got free passes at the end of school. Even with reapplying sunscreen multiple times, I got burned. Blech.

today was an interesting day. It started with waking up early for a carseat zoom meeting. It was carseat jeopardy, and was pretty fun. Then this afternoon I had a meeting with my sister, out CPS coordinator at the Office of traffic safety and her boss. We needed to go over what can and can not be expensed out by my sister and I for our next training course in November. When I was getting everything ready yesterday for the meeting, I noticed that there were some discrepancies between the paperwork I was emailed back in March, and what the current guideline are for reimbursement. I brought them up in the meeting. One of which they knew about and were aware of, and the other that they were not aware of, and the CPS coordinator tried to tell me that it didn't apply to our situation. Her boss corrected her, and then told her that I was correct. After a bit more discussion, I was asked why I've never applied for a very large grant related to CPS in southern MN. I told the brutal honest truth, and the boss seemed surprised to hear my reasoning. Then after the meeting, I was walking down the stairs to me dinner, and on the last step, but foot slipped and went under me when I fell. Same ankle as last summer. Doesn't hurt nearly as bad, and I wrapped it and iced it right away. I'll keep icing and resting for a few days, and then do my stretches and exercises. And if anyone Is interested, I can post on the private board some of the neighbor drama that has been happening the last couple of weeks. Its getting very interesting giving in this small town. My curiosity was piqued and I looked at the private board, but nothing there 😭😭😭🤣🤣 How's your ankle doing? And why didn't you apply for that grant?

Today we are school shopping since we are near a bigger city, my kids first big shopping day. They are excited and it hits hard how much covid changed so many experiences for them.

Actually, no popcorn. I'm finally, on Friday, having the colonoscopy I should have had 6 years ago (to be 10 years before my dad's colon cancer was diagnosed). Directions say no popcorn, nuts or seedy things (including berries and tomatoes and it's tomato season and blueberry season ) for a few days before. I'm not looking forward to it at all. I know a few of you have already had one - any tips for prep, anything to bring to hospital, or for after? Kids will be with my ex the day of the prep and the day of - not having childcare was the reason it got so delayed, but they are now sometimes staying with him.more than one night in a row so that makes it possible

Lol for real! My name is 4 names. I didn’t remove my maiden name, just moved it to have a double middle name (not hyphenated, just all names still there). Everything turned out fine the next day. I went 40 minutes early and it only took and hour after it opened to make it through. I think the reason I had to have my marriage license may have been because I asked for a Real ID. I don’t quite get it, but I guess your drivers license in NC isn’t solid enough to be real identification? So you need to ask for a Real ID drivers license so it can be used where you have to identify yourself. I don’t know….but I had asked for a Real ID.

My middle started crying last night about missing GA. He wanted to know when we could visit “How many years?” “Will we die before we can go back?” It was heart breaking. However he has spent the night with his cousins, and his grandparents, and seen family almost every day. So he is happy - just really missing his friends. He was telling ds3 “we don’t have any friends. We don’t know anybody.” So I hope doing camp the next two weeks helps. I work at D.uke Nursing School in a faculty position working in Simulation. So basically I teach students (bachelors first then masters) by doing simulation training.

I had a gallon of unflavored salt watery stuff to drink and it made me puke. Hopefully you get to the do the small bottles of flavored mag citrate which I recommend you get very cold before drinking. Baby wipes or similar for the prep are nice too. The prep is the worst part. Nothing needed for the hospital. You’ll just have a nice nap and some juice when you wake up. Also don’t do what I did for my first meal after. Tacos with beans and rice. Do not recommend. 😂

I think all the principals get together to try and kill the parents right out of the gate. We are a town of families with multiple kids, so of course they schedule all the teacher meet and greets on the same day at the same times back to back. How could I possibly be at 3 schools at once?

My curiosity was piqued and I looked at the private board, but nothing there 😭😭😭🤣🤣 How's your ankle doing? And why didn't you apply for that grant? I just remembered that I never explained why I dont apply for the CPS Southern Liaison Grant. When I became a CPST back in 2015, one of my instructors (who then became my mentor) was the southern liaison. When she and the other instructors that I was working with asked me to become and instructor, I was invited to a few meetings, and I started paying more attention to conversations that they were all having together. From what I heard from her, the money isn't worth it. Its a $90k per year grant, but with the amount of work it doesn't equal out to be much. My mentor is a single person with no kids, so its very easy for her to travel and do the job. I was initially approached in spring/summer of 2017 about applying for the position. It involves a lot of travel (20,000+ miles driven a year) and many nights away from home. At the time the girls were 3yo and 1.5yo and with dh doing shift work, it would not have worked for me to be traveling that much. The grant money also wouldn't cover mr purchasing a new vehicle, which I would need. My current van is a2008 Toyota Sienna, and is already at or close to 180k miles. We are hoping to get it to last a few more years, but it won't hold up to all the necessary driving. Then I also need to purchase carseats to use for training, along with material for the classes (pens, highlighters, clipboards), a computer and projector (because I' not going to risk damaging my person computer). A new printer would also be necessary because my current one is a $30 Black Friday deal that won't last me much longer. Not to mention a storage solution for all of the carseat and equipment. I currently have my extra seats in my upstairs storage room above our garage, but NO WAY am I carrying 2-3 dozen seats up and down when I need them. A storage unit would then be needed. Then there is the fact that due to my DHs work schedule, and the age of my kids, I would need to most likely hire a nanny that can watch the kids. All of that combined with he amount of work that I would be doing before, during and after all of the courses I would need to be teaching and all of the educational events make it not financially sensible. IF I "made" any money, it would have been pennies per hour, but I likely would loose money. The liaison doesn't just do the CPST training courses, but also does the Minnesota CARS class (a MN only course for foster parents, daycare workers, social workers, etc to take to learn about safely transporting children). And then there are fairs, safety events and other things that I would be expected to set up a booth at. I told the state people that I MIGHT be interested in the position in 8-10 years when my kids are older and more self sufficient, or when they are out of the house. But realistically it probably wouldn't happen unless the grant about increases to cover all of the start up expenses. (the amount has stayed the same since I became a tech back in 2015).

Dies your town have only a couple of grades per school?

Also don’t do what I did for my first meal after. Tacos with beans and rice. Do not recommend. 😂 Thanks for the cautionary tale! No tacos (or similar) for 1st meal 🤣 The prep they gave me is just over the counter stuff - two double doses of dulcolax tablets, I think 8 hours apart, and a whole bottle of miralax powder (which apparently is polyethylene glycol) I'm supposed to mix into gatorade and have half around 12 hours before and the other half 6 hours before. I think it's 32 oz each time, half gallon total, which I'm definitely glad it's not a whole gallon! My dad had said that gallon of whatever stuff he had was truly horrible; he couldn't keep it down at least some of the times. So anyway it sounds like this prep isn't the grossest possible one ... I hope! I'm kinda worried about the timing because I have the earliest morning appointment (I don't like being hungry, LOL) - 6:40 AM - but the times for all but the last dose of the prep are just the same regardless of procedure time (start 1 pm the day before; liquid stuff is either 5 or 6 pm for first dose). I might shift all those 1 hour early to make sure it's done on time. ??

mrscheese luvboston did you get advised to take a probotic (if so, any particular kibd?) or eat anything in particular the week(s) after you had a colonoscopy? Seems like an opportunity for maybe resetting GI stuff to healthier balance, but ... ?? footloose in your SIBO journey, were there any strains often in probiotics that you learned were problematic/better to avoid (like, that may contribute to people developing SIBO), or anything like that?

My colonoscopy came back clear - not even any polyps! Phew! I was worried because I was 6 years past when I should have started screening due to my father's history (he had colon cancer found when he was just 51, already pretty big/advanced - stage 2 or 3? Successfully treated, with one recurrence in his lung, but major treatments both times). But anyway, now I don't have to have it done again for 5 years. Yay!
PSA for anyone who may have a colonoscopy coming up - the prep I had was really not too bad - at least if there's a light colored gatorade flavor you like well enough (not blue red or purple) - if you have a choice about where to get it done, might want a place that uses this prep (miralax powder mixed with gatorade, split into two dosings)
