My oven died it’s like 35 yrs old. I need a new one and it has to be gas 36 inches, self cleaning pref Suggestions? Ugh literally just redo the kitchen to fit a normal size. I ordered a 36” oven back at the beginning of March and I’m still waiting for it. Everything was back ordered and there wasn’t a big selection at that size. I cannot wait to have a fully working oven again!

I would love to fit a normal size but this oven is like the focal point of the kitchen and we don’t have any $ to even do the things we need to right now. We just painted the house etc. I was thinking of trying to get by with just the toaster oven and air fryer, grill. There is not a large selection, we can get $500 back from state for buying induction if I can find one. Our big plan was when the oven died to redo tile in kitchen/mudroom as a lot is cracked and pulling away from cabinets. But no way that’s happening.

Our big plan was when the oven died to redo tile in kitchen/mudroom as a lot is cracked and pulling away from cabinets. But no way that’s happening. Oh I feel you! We had just signed the paperwork to finish our basement then the oven died a few days later. And around the same time we needed to get a new washer/dryer. 💸 I hated my old oven but was hoping it would last a few more years so I could make changes to my kitchen at the same time. Now I’ll just plan around it when we have the money to spruce up the kitchen. It is also a focal point in our kitchen as well but I really wanted double wall ovens. Oh and our dishwasher just broke a few weeks ago too 🤦🏼♀️. Can’t catch a freakin break! It’s like we signed off on spending money and the universe decided it wasn’t enough and we needed to keep spending more. Although I shouldn’t complain because we are lucky enough to be able to afford it all, it was just quite a bit more than we had been planning on this year.

Do you all clean shower curtain liners when they get gross or just throw it out and replace? Scrubbing it is a long pain in the butt project for something that costs a few dollars. But then I have major eco-guilt just throwing out such a big piece of plastic. Way #732 that I don't know how to adult ...

Has anyone ever taken a monogram off an llbean backpack? Tell me the easy way please I’m struggling I don't have experience with removing monograms, but have done quite a bit of stitch ripping. It looks like a seam ripper and some patience. Working from the backside where the interfacing is may be easier than working from the front.

I guess I am the odd man out because I clean mine 🤷🏽♀️ I feel the same as you on throwing it out and like to save a few dollars where I can. I just throw it in the tub, turn on the hot water and add a little bleach and some Tide. I come back a little while later and it's clean. No scrubbing.

Wash every so often, no plastic. I wash and send to Ridwell in the threads category when done. I wish Ridwell was nationwide, it’s a recycle service we pay for each month. We recycle so many things now that actually get recycled.

I'm pretty sure even our basic recyclables here (paper, cardboard aluminum, steel, plastics 1&2) aren't even getting recycled here right now! 😭😭 Is the fabric liner waterproof enough for blocking shower splatter?

It’s not water proof, but water resistant. It def gets wet when they shower but dries just fine and fairly quickly. It’s not perfect, but it works.

That method* worked really well- thank you so much for the tip!! * I used some spritzes of cleaner that has bleach in it because I found it first - closer to the front of the shelf - and also then I was more sure I wouldn't accidentally put too much bleach (septic system) but still worked; all signs of mildew, etc gone!

We recycle so many things now that actually get recycled. We thankfully have a local non-profit that recycles clothes and shoes for us, but we have to go out of our way to drop stuff off there, and I know a lot of people wouldn't bother. It would be great to have that service here.

We went to the IL State Fair today. It was Scout Day, so me and the girls got in for free. It was fun. Been about 25 years since I've been to the state fair.

I have my 36 week appt next week but it sounds like they don't do anything extra for covid.

Hello. Good morning. I just zoomed in on a picture the school posted on fb to see if I could read the class list sitting on the third grade teacher’s desk 😂 I could not really. The girls column was covered and I could make out the top 2 - 3 boy names, which is of little use to me. Really want dd in that class! Hah scotty, sorry you’ve got the covid. How are the boys doing? Hope your symptoms are mild and baby stays active to let you know it’s all good inside. springbeduk if you must get more use out of a plastic liner you can throw it in the washing machine. Same amount of work to take it down and put it up as putting up a new one though:

I hope your symptoms stay mild! I think in many parts of the country you'd be being encouraged to consider treatment (either paxlovid or the one monoclonal antibody treatment that works against omicron) because pregnancy is considered a risk factor for severe outcomes (still low overall rate of severe outcome - dont panic -, but maybe 3x as high as non pregnant). Hopefully you won't need any, but if you do get sicker, it might be worth asking again, and not waiting too many days - paxlovid needs to be within 5 days of onset and monoclonal antibody I think said within 7 days. This looked to be the clearest source of up to date (and credible - it's the society of maternal-fetal medicine) information: www.smfm.org/covidclinical

comicsans The boys are pretty much already over it. They had a rough 24 hours of fever and the next day woke up feeling fine. Dh has it the worst, he has asthma so it hit him hard as far as breathing. So far he is doing well enough to keep working though. I've got the cold symptoms, headache, and sore joints. Very manageable with tylenol and baby is moving good. springbeduk I will definitely seek treatment if it gets worse.

Our school assignments are supposed to be mailed on Friday (8/19) and school starts (8/29). We know we have an open house, but we don’t know when we will be assigned to attend. Ds1&2 are in camp this week. Ds1 hates it and ds2 loves it. Ds1 said he feels invisible and doesn’t know anyone. The move has been hard on him. Ds2 has cried himself to sleep. But he also is already happily making friends. In camp they go swimming m,w,f and ice skating t,r. They hate ice skating because they don’t know how. Ds3 is in his new school. He held on to me the first 2 days of drop off. Today he wanted an extra kiss and left me easily. I think his transition was pretty smooth. Next the back to school transition. I hope ds1&2 love it. My job is good. Already starting my 3rd week. Dh started Monday. It’s hard to believe a month ago we lived in a different state.

comicsans, when do class lists come out? Ours are only online nowadays and the come out about a week before school starts. Apparently we’re having an actual meet the teacher day this year on the 29th, school starts the 30th. I just found out that they will have the lists posted then. The last 2 years we got it online. I know they don’t like to leave too much time for complaint, but dang, the day before school starts. I suspect they maybe buying some time as a handful of teachers left, and the new hires they’ve announced don’t add up to fill all those openings.

My Dh definitely had it the worst too, and was working through it. Midway through his second day trying to work, he was like man it really sucks to feel so bad and be on the phone all day. I was like, welllllll, maybe don’t? Maybe tell some people you can’t make it to their meetings because you’re sick and need to rest?

Are any of your kids still masking in school?
Is your family masking at all anywhere?
I live in a weird bubble (city) of super cautious or not at all. There doesn’t seem to be any middle ground. I’m just curious what it’s like for you. I am somewhere in the middle but tending towards more cautious because we see my parents daily. My mom is 77 and my dad has respiratory issues. 🤷🏼♀️
