October is 8 days old!
I'm worried I'm turning into the annoying parent that the teacher is going to hate. DD2 is way above grade level in her reading. A couple weeks ago I contacted her teacher about her being able to check out chapter books at the school library and now I'm contacting her about DD2's reading homework. The books being sent home are basically Level A. They take DD2 all of 30 seconds to read and she's really bored with them. The directions say that one or two of the words should be challenging, so hopefully her teacher actually wants this sort of feedback.

I don’t even know what to do with myself! The Mariners are not good for my blood pressure. Down 8-1 playing in Toronto and they came back to win!

I contacted the school about the gifted program for ds1. I was able to send them his records from GA so they thanked me and said yes, they noticed he was gifted. This just helped them from having to do all the testing. I appreciate that they saw this but I wonder if I didn’t contact them if anything would have happened. Ds2 is very smart too!! (says his mom) but I am always so afraid he will be overlooked due to speech. His speech is so improved from where we started so maybe it’s me just thinking he is overlooked. I just want to give him every advantage I can to learn new and challenging things. (I think all my kids are smart, and I realize I am super biased (and therefore not the best judge).)

I don’t know if it’s bc I’m sleep deprived but I want to strangle the kid that is here to play with ds2. He doesn’t say please or thank you and just expects me to carry his bag and remember it.

Anyone doing the prime early access today? I have looked, but my kids haven't exactly pinpointed their big ticket item yet this year.

I got E's birthday in a couple weeks finished and a few gifts to have on hand in case the boys get invited to birthday parties. We don't have local stores and I like to have some options on hand.

The specific suitcase we have on our wishlist is on sale so I'll probably get that. I think I'm going to get a new Fire and give DS my old one. It's 50% off.

I bought squishmallows for birthday presents and a new extension cord lol My kids are obsessed with squishmallows. It's like their beanie babies. Only more expensive. DD2 is getting into the squishville sets with the 2 in ones.

Ds3 has been invited to a lot of birthdays recently (new class all seemed to have sept/oct bdays). So this makes it easy. Ds2 &3 took their cousins so I got them each one for Christmas.

I didn't even think to check for squishmallows. Darn! That woukd have been good.
I only bought a pair of lcd drawing tablets that were on a lightening deal - new activity for time in the car. Didn't have time or energy to really look for other deals.

I just got iome from dropping Paul off at the vet. I was laying in bed talking on the phone with my sister when he jumped up, and then peed on the bed right next to me. I called the vet, and they said that if i could get him there by 10am that they could see him today instead of calling in the morning to get him in. Im really hoping its just a baldder infection or a UTI. But im not gonna lie, im having flash backs to Star and her peeing in the house.
Also, i had just out clean sheets on the bed last night, so that was nice to strip them off and wash them. Again.

Paul does not have a bladder infection, UTI, no blood, no kidney stones, and no signs of crystals in his urine. She said that "his urine couldn't be any more perfect". I told her about our litter boxes, and then she asked me to tell her what happened right before he peed. I told her that he got on the bed with me, and that just before hand he "bunny hopped" onto my chest, and that I yelled out at him because it hurt. That's he then turned around squatted and peed right next to me on the bed. She said that this is likely a 1 time thing, and that I may have just literally "scared the piss out him" when I yelled. I'm going to keep and eye on him, and if it happens again we will put him on some antibiotics just in case he does have an infection that isn't showing up just yet. He is currently sleeping on the floor in front of the heat vent in the living room.

Hello! Hello!
Long time no talk. The Market just finished at the beginning of October and then we had Canadian Thanksgiving, trying to get things in order here. Just feels extra hard again by myself. Has been raining a lot lately so all my outside stuff is still outside and haven't cleared out the garage yet of all my assorted items that seem to get laid anywhere all summer. I park in the garage during the winter so really need to move everything this weekend. Have already had some frost 2 days last week on my car windshield after work! Fall feels like it went way too fast this year and winter is approaching quickly.
Have been painting in the basement when I get a few spare moments and making a little soap studio for myself in the laundry room area. My dad built me these custom wooden shelves to cure all my soaps on as they have taken over so many rooms upstairs! The shelves look wonderful but can't be put up until I can finish painting the walls. Just hard with being tired from work and then making product and taking Peyton to activities. Slow progress is all I ask for nowadays!
I have taken October off from other markets as there are Halloween events I need to take Peyton to. I feel I have ignored her too much over the summer and trying to make up for it. We did go apple picking 2 weeks ago and that was fun 😀
This weekend I need to finish making her costume. I feel like October was a complete blur this year! Nearly Halloween already, crazy.

The AQI is over 200 here. So miserable. It’s supposed to rain this weekend, measurable rain. It hasn’t really rained here since July which is insane!
Climate change slow your roll.

I don't understand why there aren't monarch caterpillar costumes (for little kids) available for sale. (I know, it's DIY-able, but ... I don't feel like it). Dd wants to be a butterfly princess (though I think now she has promoted herself to queen) so I got her a butterfly dress that is monarch butterfly colors/design. From Target; easy peasy and on sale. So then we though ds should be a caterpillar and I'd be a half eaten plant. Or maybe make an effort at a milkweed plant costume. I cannot be the first person who has had that idea after buying big sister a butterfly costume. But nope, can't find a monarch caterpillar costume for sale. Just pinterest brags.
So, he'll just have to be a dragon (costume left from when dd was 4). Oh well.

athena did you get to talk with your dd2's teacher yet? Or in any way get her reading ability acknowledged? She responded that DD2 is allowed to read other books that we have at home, and she is also now allowed to check out one chapter book from the library. PT conferences are in a couple weeks, so I'll touch base with her again then. This is her first year as a teacher, so there's still a learning curve there. DD2 is happy in class, at least.

Well, I got to take Simon to the vet today. When I woke him up last night on my way to bed he he had some discharge from his eyes. I turned on a light, and saw that the stuff coming from his left eye was bloody. I set an alarm, and woke up early (no school for fall break today) and got an appointment. I did notice some goop on Tuesday after getting home from the vet with Paul, so I started using the abs that was prescribed to Simon back in July for his eyes, and was going to wait to bring this up at his regular year check up and exam on Monday. He decided he didn't want to wait for the weekend. Dr looked at his eyes again, and agreed with me that we needed to try a different medicine, and they finally have the different antibiotic and steroid med combo that we wanted to try last month, but they couldn't get in stock. I'll use that for 2 weeks and see if it helps, cause obviously the other stuff wasn't working. Also, when we adopted him 2 years ago at 5.5mo he weighed 9lbs. When I took him in at the end of May, he was 12.5lbs. Today he is up to 13.7lbs. He's not a fat cat, but is just a BIG boy. In comparison, Paul, who is the same age, weighs in at 8.8lbs. Heres a pic of the two of them next to each other in almost the same position.
