H got an offer!!!! We have to wait for another one still. He is talking about what his counter offer is already. I don’t have the same confidence when I look for jobs. It starts September if he accepts it. Are you truly excited? What will this mean for you?

The flooring guy came and measured and gave us an estimate tonight. The estimate came in under budget, and what awe are getting for boarding the kittens will cover at least half if not more depending on how long we have them. I'm going to grab color samples tomorrow afternoon and we are finalizing and ordering on Friday. We are putting new carpet in the living room, upstairs play area, on the stairs and laminate in my sewing room, and having the installers put the carpet from my sewing room into the walking closet that attached the sewing room. I'm hoping we can talk the installers into tearing out flooring on a Friday and then coming back on a Monday to do the install so I can paint the floors with the odor blocking primer.

In my quest to try/find new hobbies, I gave diamond art a try. It was a nice activity to calm my mind but I’m not sure what to do with the treasures I created? The kids want this one in their room but this is my beef with crafting. What do you do with all of it? It just feels like clutter to me.

rainbowsockmonkey I'm still trying to process the information that boarding kittens is paying enough to cover half of a big flooring job! Best side hustle ever?!!

Ds is now sick with the cold (? It includes a low fever which I didn't think cold usually did but covid test neg and it doesn't seem like anything else? A bit of croupy cough but is croup from a specific pathogen?? Anyhoo...) that hit his daycare family last week - mostly the PreK kid - after their first week of mask optional school (barely any masks).
He's pretty pathetic and I feel bad for him (along with bracing for it to hit me and dd next ... yuck) but am also kinda cracking up at how man-coldy he is already at 3.5 and without having really observed an adult man overdramatizing a cold.
I guess it's an inborn tendency, not learned behavior! 🤣🤣🤣 but also a little bit 😠.

She says her ear hurts, and since the Dr couldn't see her eardrum because it was blocked by wax, we are treating her for an EI as well. Strep was negative, and her flu results came back positive this morning. I've already rescheduled her eye appointment that was this afternoon, and am waiting to hear back from both girls' teachers about moving tomorrow afternoons conferences from in person to virtual.

rainbowsockmonkey I'm still trying to process the information that boarding kittens is paying enough to cover half of a big flooring job! Best side hustle ever?!! It really is the best (and easiest) way to make money. The girls take turns feeding them, and aside from having to scoop their litter boxes the most work involved is just training them not to jump on our counters and terrorize everything. We are charging $20/night for them to be here, which is what a mutual friend who runs a kennel would charge to board them. In a regular kennel they would be in a cage most of the day with a small amount of "free time". With us, they have the run of our house except at night (I still dont trust them not to break something) and get cuddles and pets. And as an added bonus, our cat Simon gets to play with them, which is something he really needed.

I've been to 3 different hardware stores today to get the paint for upstairs. The first had the base for the darker color we are doing, but none of the pastel color base (I need 2 gallons) and didn't have the right ceiling paint. The second store had the ceiling paint, but not pastel base. Since both of this were on my way home from school drop off, I didn't worry about just going there. After I got home, I called another hardware store 25min away, and they had 2 gallons of the pastel base that I needed for the light color. I had them put them on hold me, and loaded Dd2 in the van and went right there. That store only had that base, and didn't have any of the darker color base or the ceiling paint that I would have needed.
I'm glad I didn't wait any longer to get the paint, and as long as I dont the flu from dd2 I'm going to start painting next week.

When she was about your DS's age, she had a stomach bug and had to hold my hand every time she threw up 🥴 hope he feels better soon and you and DD don't catch it.

activebaby congratulations! Do you have to start job hunting soon? And do either you or your H have a long process to get professional licenses in NC? Thank you my license is a compact one so I am good to go. H’s will take 4-15 months. We are hoping not 15. He applied for it in December/January and the new job starts in September- so hopefully timing will be okay.

First only one of the two dressers I wanted was available. Then the paint we needed was on backorder, then I ordered lamps that were a wait as well. I'm still trying to find gold two rod curtain rods. It is hard to finish projects with the current supply issues I'm hoping we will have it painted and mostly complete by end of April

In the medical world the supplies we run out of is huge. Today we are running out of dialysis fluids.

I’m so sorry - I wasn’t trying to compare or be rude. I re-read what I wrote and I see it could come across that way. I get frustrated when I am not able to get what I want and need too (mostly food related items lol). I was just sharing what I had just learned at work since I heard it and read your post closely together. I was trying to commiserate.

I realize that not being able to find paint or other supplies for non emergent home Renos is a FWP.

We have been waiting on concrete for our new driveway for 6 months. Supply issues and then a union strike. They finally have agreed to terms on a contract, so maybe another 6 months 😂

My middle just discovered that I throw away his school work and art work. He found it in the trashcan - oops! He is 5 so I guess I’ve been pretty smooth about it so far. He asked me where all his work is- I told him I save a few things but have to throw out a lot to keep the counter clean - he accepted that answer.

I do mine on Tuesdays while the kids are at school since the trash goes out that night. I'm still always worried they will go to throw something away and see it all in there before I can change the bag. Mine tried to take it out of the trash in all it’s disgusting-ness lol. I couldn’t take the piles anymore so I got real honest about it. We look at the worksheets and stuff when they come home, then straight into the recycling. If something is really cute or milestoneish I have a storage box. If it’s something they really like we may hang it up for a bit or let it hang around, then once it’s forgotten it gets pitched or replaced by the next thing. They’re fine with it and will willingly recycle their own stuff. It’s been way easier than I anticipated and I think ds is generally less attached to his creations than DD was, or at least I thought she was. Their art teacher is awesome though so I’ve actually framed a few of the art class projects to make a little gallery wall in the basement. Some of the projects take multiple weeks and they get hung up in the school somewhere, so those aren’t coming home every single week.
